View Full Version : The Skinny on the Bills in TO

The Bobcat on AM590 just reported that Roger Goodell is going to announce the approval of 8 Bills games in Toronto, starting 2008, for five years, with 3 pre-season games and 5 regular season games. In 2008, Toronto will host a late fall, early winter game so as to not conflict with the Toronto Argos.
The ticket structure will work as follows, as reported by the Bobcat: 25,000 Toronto Argos season ticket holders will have first crack at the tickets, then 5000 Hamilton Tiger-cat season ticket holders will have access, followed by the Buffalo Bills season ticket holders. I think I missed another group in there, but the first three are correct and in the order reported.
Now get this, the median ticket price was reported to be $250. So, in a sense, the average ticket price is $250. That is ridiculously high.
It gets worse.
The pricing structure was reported to work like this: All the Argo, Ticat, and Bills ticket season holders, in the order previously presented, will have to pre-purchase all 8 games.
That amounts to about $4000 for the 8 games, up front!
Apparently, Bills (Tarnished) Brass, Argo reps, and Rogers Communications (Ted Rogers the billionaire), will have a press conference next week to announce the details (and by that time, the accuracy of this will be fully known).
What intrigues me is this: It is smoke'n expensive. And it is interesting that this is for 5 years. Chances are that Ralph could be dead sometime during this time, and therefore, whomever buys the club will be committed to this contract between the Bills and Rogers Communications.
Can you say that a corner stone of the Bills moving to Toronto is about to be laid next week?
Yes you can.

I live in Miami so this Toronto thing has kinda been confusing for me sence I don't get to here about it on the News like you guys get to in Buffalo. I thought we were only going to play 1 preseason and 1 regular game up there in 2008? Were now playing 5 regular games up there?

when I called the bills office earlier this week the gentleman on the other end told me the bills were trying to confirm one(1) preseason and one(1) regular season game in toronto and as a season ticket holder I was not eligeble to reserve tickets because if every season ticket holder was given seats in the rogers centre it would only leave 6 thou for toronto fans and that was not going to help anyone. he also stated that my tickets would be discounted to reflect the games i was inelligeble to attend.
on a personal note I wouldn't cross the road to p iss on the rogers centre if it was on fire. pray you don't get given ticets to a game there as they don't know how to properly put on a football game there.
P.S. I'm from London Ontario so this isn't a USA vs. Canada thing, just love football in Buffalo

I hate toronto. I had a huge group of toronto people come in on a bus in my section and they were the worst fans ever. This sucks

Common sense tells me if they are making it official that over the next 5 years they are selling tickets to one toronto game then the team is obviously staying in buffalo...otherwise they would go year by year and try to get the team in the mean time. This is fine. let them have their game and we will keep our bills. Besides, Toronto is a nice vacation spot.

Yes each team is going to have to play an international game, the Bills will not have to because we'll be having a game in Toronto...
Its not a big deal, it assures the team staying in Buffalo for the next 5 years...

yeah i know that is the part i like ... i just want every other team to actually have to play one .... not just one other game in addition to our toronto game...

You know. It's things like this that make me consider that McGahee was shipped off because he was leaking information that he overheard while walking past the marketing department.

I hope we get to play the Bengals there. Half their team won't be allowed accross the border 'cause they're convicted felons.

take that cornerstone and place it where the sun never shines. the bills are going nowhere. i guess you didn't see sen schumer when he said if the bills were to try and move to Toronto he would sponsor a bill to revoke the NFL's anti trust exemption. also a few months ago on 107.1 form Toronto they had a piece with a prominent Toronto sports figure and he said the same thing basically saying and i quote,"any notion of the bills coming to toronto is a pipe dream as the us congress would move swiftly to revoke their anti trust exemption and the NFL would never let that happen " . so sorry mr.antichrist the bills are going nowhere and Kelly has said as much every time he is asked about that possibility, you dont think he has a plan in place with his close friend ralph,he basically said so much when he said things are in place but he was not at liberty to talk about them. he also falt out said the the money to purchase the bills is in place.
