To lose a home game earlier in the season, when we might not be in a fight to clinch a playoff spot. IMO, that's profound disrespect for the season ticket holders and other fans who make it out for Dec games, and the fan base in general. Is this truly good for the "Buffalo" Bills?
Or
Is it a way for the NFL to desensitize the situation over time and viola it's gone to a higher revenue city for the League?
Have you seen the experiment where you put a frog into a pan of cool water and turn on the stove? He is cooked before he knows it. :sinking:

I don't care if they play in Toronto. It brings in more money for the team. And more money means more talent. Maybe we will spend right up to the cap with more cash. And Toronto's a nice city. Sure, it doesn't have all the cultural things that Buffalo has to offer but it's a close second.

We were right up at the salary cap this year with all the injuries and players we had to sign.....maybe if Ralph would sell the rights to the stadium, charge the Seneca's more money for their suite, make the lower bowl tickets more than the first 20 rows in the 300 section, then we can start talking....

Ralph wilson fields a team that continues not to make the playoff. Absolutely.
But be prepared for the "market test" not to favour the Bills.
No doubt these games will sell out. The NFL, the Bills, Rogers Communication have no doubt done market research that tells them asking an average of $250 per game for 8 games is a reasonable goal.
But selling out the games doesn't, by definition, mean the games will be sold out to Bills fans.
To me the Bills have the distinct possibility of playing 7 home games and 9 away game for the next 5 years.

Those of you that say your gonna picket should get yours heads out or your a$$. If it means keeping the Bills in Buffalo for the long run then playing one game a year in Toronto is not all that bad. You people are selfish and are not thinking of all the other fans out there that desperately want to see the Buffalo Bills remain where they belong. How come you dont picket because our training camp is in Rochester? Its really not that big of a deal and the game will probably get either a Monday or Sunday night timeslot.

It is a huge deal. Think about the money for parking, the tax money, beer sales, vendors, college programs who run the beer stands to help fundraise.....
Also, the tickets are being offered to Bills fans THIRD. After the Argos and Cats fans. That's a slap in the face for a supposed "home game." I wouldn't have a problem with it if the Buffalo faithful were given a fair shot...like we all have given them since 1999....

They already said on PTI, the Toronto game will be MNF no doubts, Tony Kornheiser said he is already petitioning the producers to make it early in the season, before it gets too cold up there.
The only way Buffalo will have a primetime game is SNF because they can be flexed into it. That requires winning though. Ralph, take note: Keep season ticket holders happy, put a winning team on the field and get us a primetime game at the Ralph, and this may not be as bad!

The Bills/RWilson did this deal so we don't go down in financial flames.
We give them five games (2 pre-season) over 3 years , we get $. $ that we cannot generate regrdless if we pack the place. WE R A SMALL MARKET TEAM. I say that with gusto simply because I feel some people think all the teams just have the same market as the others. Why do you think the Bengals didn't like the CBA either?
Look this is just a marketing move, bring money to our franchise and we could havea better chance to compete (much less stay as a profitable ENTERTAINMENT organization.

Realitycheck, as a season ticket holder, you dont think you have the rights to the tickets first?
I agree with reality check, season ticket holders did have 'first-com-first-serve'. Season ticket holders are spending less this season then last and now are beginning to bring in revenue to continue the BUFFALO Bills. This isn't a move (directed at conspiracy believers) to Toronto,it is a move to keep our heads above water and then some. The Bills are OUR team, sitting right in Buffalo.Worst case scenario: Galasano (sp?) would buy the team to keep it there ........ But there aren't moving, just trying to compete with the big money teams.
That's my 2 cents ... enjoy.

Actually, the Packers have had two separate season ticket bases for many years. When they renovated/expanded Lambeau and stopped playing games in Milwaukee, they offered their Milwaukee STH the option of a three-game season ticket package in Green Bay. Almost all of them took the Pack up on this, and to this day they have a Green (original GB) and Gold (former Milwaukee) season ticket bases. Many had both packages already anyway.
Lots of grumbling this year--the Gold folks get one preseason game and the 2nd/5th regular season home games. This year games 2 and 5 are Dallas and Chicago--the biggest game of the season and the biggest rival.
I saw the prices on the Skydome website--you folks must be pretty po'd

^ This article says while the 14k is solid, it wasn't the expected spike they were hoping for.
Actually they had disapointing ticket sales for bills tickets from the Argos season ticket holders
really,
must have been out of their price range
I would think most of the corporate Argos ticket holders took advantage of it.
Also, the tickets are being offered to Bills fans THIRD. After the Argos and Cats fans. That's a slap in the face for a supposed "home game." I wouldn't have a problem with it if the Buffalo faithful were given a fair shot...like we all have given them since 1999....
I thought the Tiger Cats backed out of the deal. The way I understood it, the priority went like this:
- Rogers and Maple Leafs Sports corporate customers (notice that no tickets were available between the 20's at field level and the 200 club level)
- Argos ticket holders
- Bills tickets holders
- general public lottery winners
-------------------------------------------
I think this will increase the fan base in the GTA for the Bills. Especially with kids .. who eventually will be old enough to make the trip to the Ralph. Growing up in the GTA I would guess more than 1/2 my friends were Bills fans, simply because that was only team within a reasonable drive. I know I became a Bills fan in my early teens because of this reason. As soon as I was old enough to go to my first game I was hooked.

Nice! I have also noticed a changing of the guard at bills games. I remember back when i was young, my dad used to take me to games and it was mostly 35+ crowd in the stands with their young kids. Now, the generation that grew up idolizing jim kelly and bruce smith are old enough to buy tickets and go to the games. You are seeing more 20-25 year olds in the stands than ever before.
You are seeing more 20-25 year olds in the stands than ever before.
I would completely agree with that statement.
It really has turned into a hip social event for young people, in my opinon. I think the reasonably priced tickets are an important reason for that.
Toronto will be much more of a corporate scene. But that is the target market.

As I predicted all along... very few Argo season ticket holders bought Bills tickets. Not one that I know. I am a season ticket holder too. I still predict the games will not sell out. This will be a big financial bust and Ted Rogers will be giving tickets away just to fill the place up for show. They did that the last time Bills played there... and they still drew flies. As for kids having a chance to become Bills fans here, fat chance at those prices. Those in attendance will be corporate types, there to be seen and to entertain clients. Not real fans. This is Canada. There are not millions of sports fans here. Why do you think our stadiums are so much smaller? and we still don't fill them? Argos sold only 14,000 season tickets, as mentioned before and had virtually no spike in sales due to the Bills option. The Argos usually draw over 30,000 for a game, which means that it is mostly a walk up crowd. Some games reach 40,000 lately. It's been improving a lot the last 4 years with the new owners. I feel bad for you fans in Buffalo who have a rich tradition that is being ripped away from you to be placed up here, even if for jst a few games. I also predict the majority of people at the games here will be Americans.

Hilarious??? Yes you are. How can you even think they are selling out. They haven't sold many to Argo season ticket holders and they haven't gone on sale to the public yet. You are just dreaming. No numbers of any kind have been released except for that waiting list which means absolutely ZERO !!! You are basing your opinion on a useless list. That is what's hilarious.

Yeah i dont really want games in Toronto but it has to be done. we really dont have a choice. the entire NFL is expanding and at least we have a good fan base in Toronto. its pretty much a home game.
Remind me again how Green Bay makes a go of it?
A league with the revenue sharing set up and the continuous stream of absurd amounts of profit, I think you guys are being hoodwinked here. Ultra greedy people are stringing the fans of Buffalo along to squeeze a few more dimes out of them.
If this was a losing venture that needed to be propped up (like we have every few years in the CFL), then fine. But I gotta think there's someone in the NFL admin or the Bills ownership/ governors that sees more than just the dollar signs here...it's not like people aren't getting disgustingly wealthy here.

These sales are being racked up by corporations and ticket brokers. Don't kid yourself...the tickets will eventually have to be sold or given to an end user. Personally, I think these games will sellout...but the show of support so far is really just that..."show".

I've got my two tickets for all 8 games and I can't wait! I know a lot of people I work with are jealous their names weren't selected from the lottery. A guy at work has already offered me a lot of money for the two tickets I've got for any games I can't make it to.
I'm looking forward to August, and it's just a pre-season game....

That's so cool. I wasn't picked either. If I had, i wouldn't have gone just because of the distance, not because of the price. 3.5 hours in the winter becomes 5-6 hours each way.

Think they will ever change the format? CFL used to be the same way. Then they change to 18 regular season games and 2 pre season games. Seems to work out better in the long run.

You seem angry about the Bills coming North and I don't blame you, but new ventures take time to become profitable and ole Mr Rogers probably didn't get where he is today by being inept. For the Bills end of it, this is a deal that will produce the big city corporate skybox money and help us compete with the have's instead of the have-nots. I read somewhere(Buffalo News) that this deal equates with Jerry Jones's skybox revenue in Dallas which he receives before the season even starts. If not for this, 99% of Bills fans probably wish that there wasn't a Toronto intiative. I commend Mr Wilson and his staff for thinking out of the box and keeping the Bills in the game.

I'm not angry about the Bills playing here. They've played here before. Twice in the 90's. I am just upset that they would steal football away from such loyal fans in Buffalo. I know I would be upset if the Argos were to play one of their games somewhere else. I'm not worried about any effects of this on the Argos. I still predict they won't sell out. You'll see a few weeks before the first real game, ads for single game tickets. That will tell you that no one was buying the package deal. What kind of sports franchise anywhere makes people buy season tickets only?? which is what their demands amount to.

Stand Up and Shout
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Time for Bills Fans to Shout. We need to promote the largest protest the NFL has ever seen. Blah,Blah,Blah, We know nothing can be done about the Toronto games right now and a lot of you weak fans think it is a good thing and don't care about losing a home game. But for the true Fans this is still a bunch of Crap. Since the NFL is so Image conscious, lets give them something to worry about. For the season opener we need to stage the largest protest we can to bring national attention about our situation here.We need to let the rest of the country and league (including the fans around the league) about our Toronto problem and about the team moving situation. Not everyone knows about the NFL 's regionalization policy and that they want this league wide. This will let fans around the country know what is going on and that this can and will happen to their team and that something must be done. Any sizable protest will attract major media attention. Especially opening weekend. It would definitely draw the attention of all the networks. Some of you will think this is lame or not worthy, but it will get the attetion of the NFL and commissioner Goodell which all we need to do. This should get Goodell and Ralph to come out in public and address this situation about moving the Bills and hopefully get a public commitment on keeping the Bills in Buffalo.
SEASON TICKET HOLDERS, TRUE FANS,AND BUFFALO DESERVE BETTER
