ok so we have finished day 1 of the FA draft...We all know who has picked who ect...
Who in your opinion made the best pick in the FA draft? and who do you think made the worst pick???

Best Pick...Tom Brady...how can you go wrong with that pick? Moss is back...Brady may not duplicate it...but he will still be very good.
I won't say worst...how about riskiest?...Hmm...I'd have to go with Kurt Warner. I know warner had decent numbers, but it's not enough to justify an early pick like that considering that he probably won't play that much this year. If you're going the one year wonder at QB, Favre would have been a much better choice. I think warner lasts into the 3rd or 4th round if he wasn't taken here...

I'm surprised nobody mentioned my trade, I admit it was a little lopsided, but I was desperate to get back into the second round.

I think the best pick might be Joseph Addai, who made it to the second round but was the first round pick of the team that came late.

Couldn't risk it. The next best QB was Philip Rivers. I don't want a crappy offense. If I waited somebody would've taken Warner and all of the next tier of QBs and be stuck with someone terrible.

It's hard to say... Probably Garrard. Sorry Ides. Possibly willie parker and dwight freeney also. There were more than several head scratchers, that's for sure.
Best picks? Hard to say, at this stage of the draft it's hard NOT to pick someone good LOL

I like that word risky too Chazz. Garrard-Taylor would be my pick. Garrard was pick #5 also.
Best picks? Hard to top Derek Anderson and LT.
There's alot of teams that did well, none of which are in my division...

I wouldn't say Anderson is a best pick...we'll see if he plays at the same level this year.

Hey if we were using his 2006 stats he would've been my pick!

Rivers actually pans out to be a better value than Warner. Their statistics are essentially the same, so they'd have similar performances this year.
Rivers played the entire season whereas Warner only 14 games. Warner also will likely be a one year guy for your team this season. Rivers is a franchise QB.
To each his own, just thought it was interesting.

Maybe next year, not this year. I really like him as a player,I think the Jags might go to th SB, but he is not what you called a stats machine

I'll mention it right now. when we cut this deal last night, I didn't have enough time to look at what exact numbers they were. I was elated to find that the 1st round rookie you gave me was the 4th overall. I was also pleased to find out that the FA picks you gave me were all also higher than my positions. And for all of that, I thank you very much!
That gives me 3 picks today. so the fun starts NOW!

Yeah, I confused myself of what picks, I had and picks i was giving away, whoops..I guess you live and learn.
I guess that's what you get for trying to do a draft, watch baseball, and work at the same time...lol

Ides, the thing you may or may not be understanding though is that he was injured for 4 games last year, so more than likely he is not going to play 4 games for you this year. So you used a Top 10 pick on a guy that is going to miss 25% of your games.

Peterson missed only 2 games, and even with those two games was second in the league in rushing yards...added another 268 in recieving yards, and has 12 combined TD's. He's a stud!

Pretty much any QB that was taken after Brady and Peyton and before Ben Roethlisberger was among the worst picks.

Yup, what Chazz just said. I would imagine they will still count that last week for garrard, i don't know though. Chazz? even so his stats aren't that impressive. I hope it pans out for you man. i'm just glad you didn't take romo :)

You think Romo was a bad pick at #7? how so, I'm curious.

NO..if he didn't play..then he didn't play...regardless of the reason.
And Walls, I'd have taken Romo before Ben.

I personally don't think he's what's hyped up to be...but in this case, you can't argue with stats.

Maybe I should restate that. i don't think any of those QB's had better year's than Roetlisberger, not that they were horrible picks. And I should probably exclude Romo, but Romo was significantly higher in INTs. He's also 2 years young and a million dollars cheaper.

I certainly would have taken Ben before Brees, Palmer, Garrard, and Manning

Thats who I was aiming for at #16, but he was taken 15th. Anderson is a very good replacement though.
I'm just happy it turned out that way. Because if LT wasnt on the board at #4, Big Ben wouldve been the pick there so I like the Anderson-LT combo alot better.

Romo also thre for 1100 more yards and 4 more TD's. I'll take the 8 more INT's with those better numbers.

You can have comparable numbers if you do it right. Ben's QB rating was higher, his YPA was only slightly lower, and his completion percentage was higher. It comes down to how you run your offense.

You have to consider the future though. The Steelers offensive line is going through a phase to get younger and Ben had his only good season this year. Take a look at his 06 season and I don't see how you rate him as the 3rd QB on the board, or even 4th now with Romo.
Roethlisberger isn't anything without a running game and can't be relied on to carry his team on his arm the entire season. With two teams now in the division capable of high potent passing offenses and good running games, the Steelers arguably will have a tougher time keeping up. Browns offense is definitely on the upswing, the Palmer and TJ/CJ are just as they always are. Put Ben into a position where he has to throw the ball a lot and I doubt you'll see similar results.

Anderson is a bigger gamble than Ben...but he also has a bigger upside if you're right. Anderson is not proven, and his future is cloudy as well with A 1st round pick waiting in the wings...

He's 24 years old who had an excellent year and the Browns are only getting better. Quinn should be the one worried about being shipped out in a year or two, not Anderson, especially if he has another season like this past year.

Sorry Tru but my boys in Cleveland all tell me that Andersen has serious issues with accuracy and that they believe he's going to be no where as good as last year simply because DC have a full year of tape on the guy now...Quinn may be starting sooner than you believe.

I have to agree...if you get a good TE and RB, you're going to have a solid start on the O....or will you mix it up and go defense?
