While other teams like KC and the Pats move around and make trades while still getting there players, OBD stands pat and gets a ok player, I guess.
This was a prime time to trade down, but they just couldnt make it happen.
This draft is very uninteresting too me so far.....

Takes two to trade man, Saints were biting on the chomp to move up for the whole time and NE was in the right position with the players available.

We stayed put and got the best player at a position of need. I'd say we've done pretty well.

Who were they going to trade with...I think having Harvey off the board really hurt any trade chances..pretty much most teams have been able to get who they want without moving

I would be willing to bet KC Called.
But when Harvey went off the board tha hurt us.
Also why move when the Best CB (top 10) talent is looking right at you

If they moved back to 20, just nine spots.....McKelvin would not have been there. Period.

couldn't agree more...now they have to give up 2nd and 3rd picks for a wr and that leaves us with no shot at top tight end this year...I think the worst case scenario developed when they couldn't trade down/wouldn't and still haven't filled their biggest needs at wr/te..now they are in a tough spot..this was horrible execution i feel by fo..I hope I am wrong but I see no shot at getting davis/keller at te..our offense needed one of them and now they will pick another big/slow project at te...very disappointed...

You have no clue how things work, just cause you wanted to move out of the 11 spot. McKelvin is the best CB in the draft and is a top 10 talents that fell to us at 11 what more could you ask for.

was he really top ten? i like the pick but it seems that all the cornerbacks seemed a little interchangeable, just like this yr's recievers. top ten to some, top fifteen to others, top twenty to the rest. just sayin

I saw more Mocks that had McElvin gone before #11 than him reaching us - getting him was a VERY good move - especially with Harvey gone.
We face the Pats twice a year - this was a great selection/

People stop complaining....jesus christ.....if someone gave ya'll a million bucks you would be pissed and slap the person...because it wasn't a million bucks and one cent.....Leodis is now the second best cb on our roster......and that was a huge need for us......and PLLLLLEEEEAAAASSEE we will STILL and I repeat we will STILL get our WR so stop whining...some of ya'll must have gotten turned on watching moss light us up for 4 last yr....let everyone else do what they're doing and the OBD will do what we do......we'll be just fine....trust me...
We get the #1 cornerback in the draft with the 11th pick and somebody still has to whine !!!

We got the best cb in the draft and a killer return man plus a productive huge wide receiver and still have a ton of picks left!!! A++

Don't know-we've filled our two biggest holes so far. It does take 2 teams to trade, and I'll bet the Bills inquired about trading up to grab Thomas. Even if they didn't, I'm happy with who we got.

Buffalo needed to shut down Randy Moss, and the rest of the Pats that ran RUPSHAW all over the BILLS on the Sunday Night Football. Great Pick, Best CB in the Draft, and no Issues. LE ODIS is the MAN he will shut down everyone that he covers, and have a few return TD's.
Hardy is the MUCh needed pick, 6'6, what a Target for Edwards. Look for Evans to do well in the begining of the season, instead of being shut down until the end of the season. Great Draft so far for the Bills. A+,

Oh my god! Fred Davis and Dustin Keller were the only two TEs in this draft with legs! The rest of them can't even move! I think they're actually fungus! The sky is falling!
:drama:
Wake up bro! There are a number of great receiving options left at the TE position, like Martin Rucker, Kellen Davis, Jermichael Finley, or Brad Cottam. All 4 of those guys have good speed and hands and one of them them will be there in round 3.
CALM DOWN.

wow. first of all, were you ever wrong. why reach for a WR when the guy we want is there in the second. second, talk about no faith. obviously YOU know more than these people who make it their job to do this stuff. third, just because the bills want to trade down doesnt mean any other team wants to trade up. all the teams (for the most part) got the players they wanted by staying where they were. fourth, you don't need to move around in the draft to be successful. teams stay put more than they trade. fifth, you really dont need to put . . . between every clause. simply ending the sentence with a period or an exclamation mark would suffice.

We weren't supposed to trade down from 11. I was all for trading down but a top ten player fell out of the top ten and we were in position to scoop him up and we did.

The football analysts love it when teams trade because it gives them something to talk about.. it doesn't make the teams who are doing the trading somehow more competent.

We get the pick of the litter at CB, a position of need and people still complain
we also get the complimentary style WR B-lo needed and, more complaining.
Let me ask this, would you rather have reached at 11 for a WR or better yet overpay for a FA WR who did not want to be here? We got a 6-6 guy who runs in the 4.45-4.5 range and has good hands.... and a dual threat playmaker CB/KR... guys we are picking our needs and getting great value.... enjoy it....

This probably the right point. I really wanted to trade down, but it's now clear that the guys that were valued in the middle of the first round were offensive linemen and there were a ton of them. So there wasn't much incentive to anyone to trade down from something like 16-17-18 because there was plenty still on the board.
The only trade possibility might have been someone who really wanted McKelvin.
Not trading down probably cost us on oe the high ranked TEs.
But like others, I'm happy with this. Hard not to like a corner who projects like this McKelvin.

Right. The Bills showed a lot of discipline. THey didn't get nutty about the wide receiverslot, and it paid off.
The interesting question is what the Bills have done if the Pats had taken Leodis at 10?

Yeah, because you can magically just trade to whichever spot you want.
I guess we were dumb for selecting the best player available.

While that is interesting, I think people need to think some of this through a little better.
Firstly, with Harvey taken, there was a lot less chance of a 'trade down'.
Secondly, we need to observe where the WRs were taken, i.e. not until the 2nd round.
Not only that, but after we took McKelvin, the teams who were most 'touted' to take a WR after us, Philly and someone else, both actually traded out of the pick (or decision if you rather).
The Cowgirls didn't even take one with their two 1st rounders.
Not only did the FO stick to their guns, but I also believe that Hardy was, at the least, their first alternate. Only Thomas and Nelson went before Hardy (of WRs who are tall enough for what we want), and I'm not convinced both of them are rated higher on our board than Hardy.
You only have to look at the consistent comments about 'open when not open' that have been coming out from OBD in the last couple of months, to realize that Hardy must always have been high on their radar.
I think the FO were laughing all the way to the bank when Thomas was taken a bit before us, as it saved them having to explain our preference for Hardy.
As to 'trading down', well, how about 'trading out' of the first round, if we wanted to take a WR with our first pick?
There's a nice comment on NFL.com about the Bills picks.
'Pick Analysis:With all the receivers falling out of the first round, the Bills gambled and won by waiting until the second round to address the position. In the end they have their cake and get to eat it too, as they nab a real red zone threat in the 6-foot-6 Hardy. He finished his career by hauling in 191 passes for 2,740 yards and 36 touchdowns.'
I don't know about 'gambled', I do think they've done a solid job so far.

A promising draft derailed by not moving up to secure Martin Rucker!

we got the guy we wanted in McKelvin, they picked the right guy!
The WRs fell, and if we picked Thomas 11, we would have looked like fools. We did a great job, got the #1 corner on our board and our #2 WR. Why bother play the draft when you got what you needed by just staying put?

Man, talk about sour grapes. How is our draft "derailed" by not trading up to take Rucker?? I think the Bills have done a great job identifying needs and addressing them with solid picks across the board. The only question I have is with Fine, but Ive heard that he's a TE/FB hybrid, and I like hearing that.

I'm not sure, but it seems like alot of top ten players fell pretty far. It's just my opinion, but a corner who can't catch the ball being considered a top ten, sounds like a weak draft class. I get what you're saying, but the whole draft was blown up. McKelvin, seems like a good pick, but did we need a corner at 11, that's what worries me. I also hope that these new guys aren't gonna be McGahee's.
