I thought they would go after Sims before Ellis.

We're good at the DT position and we needed a DE.

I didn't have a board, but he was on my mind. I wanted a DE either here or in the 4th, and he was one of the names in my head. Didn't surprise me that he's the pick.

I had a few different guys in mind for the third round(depending on who we drafted in the first and second). He was one of them.

He is the first pick I got right.

I had a feeling they would pick a DE in the third round after yesterday. This Ellis guy doesn't seem like much more than a 3rd down sack specialist early in his career but with Buffalo giving up alot of first downs on third and long, Ellis may be just what we need to prevent that.

I would've rather gotten Avril, but Ellis is an outstanding pick in the 3rd round who could start eventually. We needed a rotational end in this draft, and Ellis is an excellent pass rusher.

I had him in my mock and yesterday I was hoping we'd get him with that pick since I knew he was still there. I think this is a great pick, just look at our defense now. Where do we have holes? I can't find them. Sure our offense has question marks, but really having a solid D will help. We're looking playoff caliber this year, and there's always another offseason next year to fill any offensive holes we have before we make our SB run...

yeah, Ellis was one of the two DEs I had us targeting in the 3rd and 4th. If we didn't go Ellis in teh 3rd I thought we'd go Robertson in the 4th.
we've needed this extra pass-rush for some time. finally OBD wakes up

Rivals had him as the 11th best Defensive End in the draft.
Bryant had him in his top 100. I think in the 61-70 group.

Once Harvey was off the board before #11 and Jackson was off the board before #41, Ellis was the guy I was hoping for in the 3rd.

Great point. We had trouble stopping 3rd and long in obvious passing situations last year. Hopefully Ellis can help shore that up!

i kept him off my "board" just because of his character issues alone, but in terms of actual talent i think he was great value in the 3rd.
