Just thought I'd let you guys know. Seems like an athlete, even if he lacks top speed.

I'll take production over his measurables and his production leaves alot to be desired. Should have gone Davis or anyone else for that matter. I hate this pick.

I posted this in another thread too.....this guys fits the BILLS TE mold perfectly
Strengths:
Reliable hands...Versatile and he can line up all over the field...Nice ball skills and body control...Smart with great awareness...Knows how to get open...Tough and durable..Great motor...Hard worker..Lots of experience...Team leader and captain.
Weaknesses:
Average size and bulk...Marginal athleticism...Doesn't have great timed speed...Is not very quick and lacks a burst...Needs to get stronger...Sub par blocker...Won't do much after the catch...Can improve as a route runner...Not a fit for every team.
Notes:
He grayshirted in 2002 due to an injury and then redshirted in 2003..A three-year starter...Might be more of an H-Back...Also a terrific special teamer...Is not a great in-line blocker but could battle for a roster spot as a pass catching specialist...Has to find the right situation but his top-notch intangibles give him a fighting chance.
Hback ability
Great hands
TEAM LEADER
Great intangibles

More importantly, he's a leader and a team guy. I know people all over the boards are pulling their hair out, but he's a pass catching specialist, something we don't have at the tight end position right now. Its definitely tight end by committee this year, and I personally have a feeling that he may emerge as the 2nd tight end behind Royal after all is said and done in training camp and the preseason.

Edit: 46 receptions, 394 yards, four touchdowns
Not bad for a TE in the big 12

Davis: 28 grabs (for 475 yards and five touchdowns)

Then I am mistaken. I looked on espn and it said he only have four touchdowns? Could you please provide a link because 8 touchdowns makes me feel a whole lot better haha!

And as for lacking strength, that is what we have a weight room for. You can't teach good hands. You can get stronger.
Seems like another good special teams player. I don't think he'll get much offensive action unless he gets up to par on blocking and pay his dues. If anything at TE, he'll push our other 2 TE's to get better.

PICK FOR YOUR SYSTEM! You do not always need the sexy pick!
Not only do you stay true to your board, but you take the player who will best suite what you are trying to do!

He had the best cone drill and ran the 20 yard dash faster than james hardy did. I don't see how burst will be a problem...

I heard he's a TE/FB combo, it would be sweet to see him blocking in front of Marshawn.

They will make it as special teamers - we lost four special teamers.
They will make the team - I think we could have picked them later so I would have gone a different way in the fourth - but I can see the reason for picking them - just not at that spot

The only reason he made the team is because we didn't want to look stupid for drafting him in the 4th.

Or because he is better than you think. Golly, that would be hard for you to admit, wouldn't it? THat the team mores know about a player than you do....
