OT Demetrius Bell, with our first 7th.

Positives: Long armed, athletic build with plenty of room for additional growth … Trim build for an offensive lineman with good overall muscular development in his upper and lower … Good overall athlete … Good initial quickness off the snap, in pass protection to mirror and when blocking at the second level … Quick hands which could become very effective with further development … Significant improvement in three seasons with the athleticism to continue development.

Negatives: Raw as they come … Quality of competition a concern … Lacks the bulk and necessary strength to compete at the NFL level at this time … Gets by on his quickness, but lacks explosiveness in his initial hand punch and the anchor to handle effective bull rushers … Hasn't learned yet to play with leverage.

Strengths:
Excellent size with the frame to get even bigger...An outstanding athlete...Is light on his feet...Quick with terrific agility and balance..Mobile enough to work in space and get to the second level..Really excels in pass protection...Has a ton of upside.

Weaknesses:
Extremely raw and only has three years of football experience...Is not very strong or powerful...Isn't stout at the point...Does not get a great push...Has a long way to go when it comes to technique...Poor leverage...Awareness and football IQ are sub par..May lack a nasty demeanor...Didn't play against a lot of elite competition.

Notes:
Nickname is "D-Bell"...Reportedly the son of former NBA star Karl Malone...Did not play football in high school....Was primarily a basketball player early in his college career and only dedicated himself to the gridiron in 2007...Was a defensive end in '05 and then moved to the offensive line in '06...The definition of a developmental prospect and he'll require a lot of patience but has the physical tools you look for.

"Reportedly" Malone's son? Weird.

"Reportedly" Malone's son? Weird.

PFW says that Malone is his biological father but that he has never known Malone. Looks like Mama Bell was a Utah Jazz groupie.

"Bell's a small school prospect who has the frame, quickness and lateral mobility to develop into an effective reserve or possibly a starting right tackle. However, he has to improve his overall strength and play with better leverage before that happens."

..from ESPN.

I'll take that, Jason Peters potential anyone? We shall see!

Bell is a solid pick, he has a lot of potential. I think he could be a steal and develop into a really good lineman.

my least favorite pick of the draft for us. he is not strong enough and is pretty limited. he fits best for a team like the broncos or colts who use the zone blocking scheme. we are not like that. he like the big 330 plus olineman to pave the way. this guy is finesse all the way. dont like it. he doesnt fit for us.

This kid has "PROJECT" written all over him.
We have a history of drafting project linemen both on the O and on the D.
Some work,,,most don't.

Well jason peters is a finesse lineman and that has worked out pretty well. I think you are a little to quick to judge. This guy is def a project but if it works out he could be a steal

Jason peters is finesse? he is 340 pounds!!! he was a huge college tight end.... he was never finesse, athletic for his size but not finesse.
