First, Steve Johnson....

Then, Devin Thomas....

Both have produced for 1 year only.
Thomas is faster and more solidly built.
Johnson is a bit taller and has a better YPC average and had more TD's in a much tougher SEC conference than Big 10 that Thomas played in.
How can anyone not like this pick?
Where would Johnson have gone if he put up stats like that two years in a row?

He's a well coached football player. If he did it two years in the row and had a better combine, we are talking about a potential top 20 talent.

I couldn't agree any more Beast, If Johnson had ran a faster 40 time would he have been the "Devin Thomas" of the draft.

If Johnson had stayed in school for another year the guy is a top 10 pick next season!.... lol I had to...
What I like about Johnson is 13 TDs... The yards will come with guys like Lynch, Jackson, Evans, Parrish, and Reed... Yet the entire team only produced what 12 TDs via the passing game... Tds are what this team needs and a guy like Johnson brings that!

Good point BF. I see a lot of receivers just catch the ball but they don't maximize the yardage. Steve Johnson wants to score on every play in a T.O. kind of way.

I really like this pick. As soon as I started reading about him, he reminded me a lot of Devin Thomas, which made me happy. I hope he gets a chance to play - not like a "Sam Aiken" chance to play. He could be a good slot receiver filling in for Parrish in 4-wide situations (since the coaches don't seem to like Parrish playing too much for fear of injury).

Excellent point about the slot - Evans on one side, Hardy the other and Johnson in the slot - that is not a bad setup. Add Parish when we spread it out - speed and height we will finally have both. Love the pick.
