    logo Gut feeling...

Bills go Ryan Mallett at 3... Unless Gabbert plummets I don't see Mallett getting past Minnesota at 12 so its not a major reach. Bills brass has been quiet on Mallett perhaps too quiet. If they think he is THE guy can't pass him up.

I know he goes against Gailey's "type" but really who knows what that man has up his sleeve for us. Fitz seems like the kind of guy who can mentor Mallett not just on the field but off it.

    I don't know I just got a feeling...

I have a gut feeling that if the Bills wanted Mallett they would wait till the second and completly miss him, and then draft a QB in the seventh round.

I just cant see the Bills picking a QB that high. I don't think they take one before the third. i just don't think this is that good a year for the QB's. Much better year for D. and I think the Bills will build the lines O and D. who knows other than Nix. At least I hope he knows what he's going to do before Denver picks.

Like Ive said before, Im in favor of skipping on all the QBs this year except Stanzi or Dalton if they slide to the fourth, even Tyrod Taylor in the 5th or 6th but thats it. All these QBs rub me the wrong way. This is just a gut feeling

I agree, Mallett could be the pick, I have said this for awhile, I think Nix see's more Philip Rivers in him than Ryan Leaf. He is by far the best passing QB in this draft, and some NFl execs say his ability to read a defense, checks at the line are also unmatched. If teams do their homeowrk and find these so-called off -field issues aren't an issue, he will go very high. There is a reason, Carolina (who doesn't have a 2nd pick), Cincy, Vikes, and Miami want to work him out... all top 15 picks...I think Nix loves him IMO Of course...

I hear ya, and I hope your gut is wrong. I've watched Mallett several times. I honestly think when coaches/gm's decide to pick him it will be later than most are projecting. His feet are BAD!! His pocket presence/movement is BAD! He will be there for us at 34, and I STILL would not take him, because if his feet aren't a good enough reason to steer clear, read up on his personality and mind.... JMO!
Dude is next Ryan Leaf..... IM TELLIN YA!!!!

They've been quiet about Mallett because they have no interest in him.

Didn't go to his pro day. Didn't schedule a private work out.

When was the last time a team took a QB #3 overall that they made zero attempt to get to meet over the time leading up to the draft?

It's never happened, and it's certainly not going to happen with a player who has more character related red flags than any other QB in the draft.

Yeah, this is how I feel in general. I'd be fine with Dalton in any round but the first. The third would be about right IMO

10 years from now people might (might, not definitely will) be saying that they can't believe Mallet wasn't taken by the Bills with the third pick, and that will include most of the people on this board if he turns out to be great. Kinda' how people today can't believe what QB’s were taken before Marino (e.g., Todd Blackledge, etc) when he was drafted by Miami near the end of the first round (and were criticized for reaching for him that early). Who knows, sometimes seemingly crazy things work out, but they generally don't. Also, Marino supposedley had questions about drug use as well after a subpar senior season at Pitt.

Anyway, I don't recall Marino having great footwork, maybe he did, but what he did do was make good decisions and get rid of the ball quickly with an accurate throw. That decision making and quick release is what often neutralized an opposing teams pass rush (including an often times frustrated Bruce Smith), not his fancy footwork and statuesque stance and, for what it’s worth, Mallet supposedly has some of those qualities as well. I guess we'll see.

Mallett and Buffalo are NOT a fit for each other.

Bills would have have to drastically upgrade RG (if Wood is at Center) RT, and maybe even LT.

Chan also historically likes mobile, accurate, smart decision makers under center, 3 qualities of Mallett that people have questioned.

Honestly you know what QB I'm really warming up to that I did NOT like one bit?

Christian Ponder...I think he may be the most under-rated QB in the draft and COULD sneak into round 1.

My feeling is Miller unfortunately. Just don't see the upside in the one dimensional speed rusher. Speed is important but strength and technique are more important for the front 7.
