I've stayed out of this discussion until now. Haven't read it all.
If you really think one statistic can dictate how the Bills should draft, you seriously underestimate the complexity of professional football.
Look at any roster, any team, and look five years later. You'll be amazed how much turn over there is. Free agency, retirements, injury, guys losing their jobs.
Five years from now, one and perhaps both of the Bills running backs will be gone. Five now, I'd guess that the Bills probably will be starting two, or perhaps three, of the five offensive linemen who are starters now. Five years from now, Lee is gone, Roscoe is gone and probably one of Stevie an Nelson are gone. Five years from now there's probably one chance in ten that Fitz is still the quarterback. It's just in the nature of the game. So the Bills are going to need to get a bunch of offensive players over the next five years, JUST TO STAY AS GOOD (!!) AS THEY ARE NOW.
Buddy and Chan know they can't afford to ignore the offense, even if you don't know it.
On the other hand, if you're looking at three starting defensive linemen, the Bills already have Williams (maybe still here), Edwards, Troup and Carrington. They already have some linebackers they expect to be playing.
You may not like how the Bills played the run last season, but spending ANY year building the defensive from seven almost to the exclusion of everything else would be a huge mistake.
The Ball Burglar is gone but not forgotten.
I don't understand how any Bills fan can say they watch this team and come to this conclusion.
The Bills have been getting RUN OVER in the run game since Pat Williams left.

As it is Kyle Williams can never come off the field to catch his breath.
Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race. - Calvin Coolidge
Our Dline is not marginal when it has an all-pro on it...Ne's Dline was Wilfork and a bunch of undrafted guys this year...did they suck? And why do you keep bringing up linebackers? I never said anything but the fact that they suck. In fact, that is the whole point. The LBs and secondary are in much worse shape than the line.
