Last year once we drafted I remember thinking the picks just made the most sense. People will say Spiller didnt make sense because we had 2 running backs, needed so much else, and hes more of a luxury player. But fact of the matter was we were a team in desperate need of help putting points on the board, and CJ Spiller was the most explosive player last draft to do just that.
The defensive line is the most important part of the defense, and we didnt have anyone that fit the mold of a 3-4 D Lineman. We were switching to a 3-4 D and had noone at all to plug the middle which is obviously the anchor of a 3-4 D. While Troup himself might have arguably been a reach, the position we were filling certainly was not. Hes the quintessential 3-4 DT. We had picked up Dwan Edwards in FA who we know hes not a quality starter, but besides him we didnt have anyone that plays DE in a 3-4. Carrington wasnt considered a reach at all and was the quintessential 3-4 DE.
Based on this type of logic, I want some opinions on what we do in the early draft this year.
