Default How could anybody want Miller?

I'm watching his "highlights"...dude looks like freakin Donte Whitner to me.

I am not impressed at all. I know they are saying he's good. I know I'm not a scout. Don't we have enough small players?

Dareus or Fairley is the only way to go. Boom.

    Miller - 6'3 243 -

    Darryl Talley - 6'4 235
    Cornelius Bennet - 6'3 200
    London Fletcher 5'10, 245

If you're small, doesnt mean you dont make an impact.

    - as far as why i want him? the guy has an unstoppable motor.
    not a 1 year wonder.
can do anything: rush the passer, cover the TE (lord knows we need that) and assist in the run game. does it all.
    That's a clown question, bro.

Gotta love you height/weight/speed guys. Quit pretending you know more than the people projecting this guy as a consensus top 5 pick. Don't even compare him to Maybin who was not nearly thought of as highly as Miller nor did he even come close production wise.

Lets see, why have zero pass rush last year and Miller is the best pass rusher in the draft and said to be the best in recent drafts. How can you NOT want the best player in the draft at something we need desperately?

I think he has the tools to be a great player, but I don't see Buffalo using him correctly. I see the Bills drafting him and then switching to a 4-3 defense, or using him as a DE in passing situations. Or the Bills could really get stupid and move him to ILB, which they view as one of their greatest needs. I know the Miller supports think he can play any position, but I think he'd be a wasted top 5 pick as anything other than a 3-4 OLB, IMO.

If you watch him play at A&M they moved him around and created match-up headachs for the opposing teams.

The biggest thing that scares me about Von is his love fest with the Dallas Cowboys. If we draft him we better sign him to a six year contract and if he pans out sign him to an extension well before he enters his last year.

When has Whitner ever hit someone like this for going over the middle?!

2009 all over again! I bet you guys were PSYCHED about the Maybin pick, too!

He will not help against the run. Sorry. He's going to get blown away.

Why was Talley good? Was it, IDK, maybe because he had Bruce Smith and Cornelius Bennett that needed to be accounted for?!?!? MAYBE JUST A LITTLE?!?!

We need big strong players. Sick of watching a puny team get pushed around. I do not want this guy. I'd say he could be decent. He won't be great.

Did you even watch the video? Since when is a linebacker who is 243-250 lbs puny? Aarron Maybin played at 225, couldnt change directions, and was slower. Von Miller measures out more like Demarcus Ware.

These boards suck. It's just blatantly ignorant individuals pretending to know what they are talking about (see: the OP) and even when dozens of people give proof for them being wrong, they still just continue to be idiots...

Can't we stop the comparisons between Miller and Maybin? Since when did having a similar size to someone mean you were going to become that person?

    Didn't I hear that he's faster/quicker than Ware?

Ok, I'm blatantly ignorant. Let's think about this.

I'll use Bruce Smith as an example. If teams tried to block him 1 on 1, it was sack time. It was tackle for loss time. It was turnover/punt time.

Football is an 11 vs 11 sport, guys, you see? If a guy commands a double team, that creates A COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE!! WOW HARD TO UNDERSTAND HUH?

A speed rusher is not going to command double teams. Period. A guy like Dareus or Fairley, would command double teams. THUS, opening up a defensive player who will go unblocked, or forcing the other team to leave in extra blockers.

    COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE.

This is what this team has lacked and why our defense sucks. We have ZERO players that command a double team. NONE. And don't say Kyle Williams either.

Dareus or Fairley. Period. I'm not saying Miller sucks and won't be good. But he won't be huge for us unless we have a dominator inside. Period.

    Too small huh?

    Chad Greenway 6'2" 242lbs - James Anderson 6'2" 235lbs - Jon Beason 6'0" 237lbs - Hawthorne 6'0" 246lbs - James Harrison 6'0" 242lbs - these are the top 5 OLBs in tackles from last season.

Cameron Wake 6'3 250lbs 3rd in sacks among OLBs with 14, Clay Matthews 6'3" 250lbs 4th with 13.5 sacks, Shaun Phillips 6'3" 250lbs 5th with 11 sacks, Harrison again who was 7th with 10.5 sacks

Harrison again who led all OLBs with 6 FFs, Hawthorne again, Wake again and Aslee Palmer 6'1" 236 who were tied for 3rd with 3 FFs each.

Guess they were all too small since they are roughly the same size as the 6'3 250lb Miller
"Good teams put it in the end zone. Teams like us kick field goals.'' - TJ Houshmandzadeh

"Potential means you ain't done $&%# yet" - Bill Parcells

    2013 Draft
1st) Keenan Allen WR - Cal
2nd) EJ Manuel QB - FSU
3rd) Chase Thomas OLB - Stanford
4th) Darius Slay CB - Miss St
5th) Matt Scott QB - Arizona
6th) Jake Stoneburner TE - Ohio St

With the draft just a day away I like what I put up but I'm switching Allen to the 2nd and moving Manuel to the 1st

I can show you plenty of game film where Miller draws double teams, and Gabbert admitted on his interview with Gruden they slid their protection at Miller because he was so domiate. I think their is a ton of evidence to show he gives your defense a competitive balance!

PS) I hated the Maybin pick. I was on the phone with my buddys jake and my brother and when the 49ers passed on ORAKPO we all started jumping for joy. I was like there is no way we dont draft O-SACK-PO! I was ecstatic, grabbed my beer and opened it and my buddy Jake who is a Colts fan was like congratulations Bills got exactly who they need... then right after we were crushed... We heard Aaron Maybin and he bursted out laughing on the phone, I chucked my beer across the living room and he said "The Bills are still the Bills". One of the saddest draft day moments I can remember!
