Default Phil Hansen talks Wall of Fame

Phil Hansen was on the John DiTullio Show on 1280 WHTK in Rochester to talk about going up on the Bills Wall of Fame. Here is a link to the interview.

I have respect for Hansen and his contributions to the organization, but imho, I don't see him as a Wall of Famer. He was a solid D-liner, but a far cry from a Buffalo Bills "legend." Moulds' name should be put up there before Hansen's. Putting Hansen's name on the wall would be comparable to putting Schobel's name on the wall; two very good defensive linemen, but neither were overly remarkable.

You must not have ever seen him play, he was much better IMO than Schobel and alot bigger. He was a really tough guy in the trench's,oposite Bruce Smith.

While I think it's fair to say there are probably some more 'deserving' guys out there, I believe it's also foolish to underestimate Hansen as a player.
Just watch his 'highlight' reel off of the Bills media center. Hansen kept his eyes open, at all times. Look at the fumbles he's picking up on. He exhibits great awareness of what's around him, and it's the reason he became the player he was.
It's something that coaches can emphasize, but can't actually teach.
People should understand that the name on the front of the uniform is more important than the one on the back.

Why bother drafting worse players than you already have on your roster?

schobel was a fraud. Did the same thing for 60 snaps a game and once every other game managed to get to the QB. The rest of the time his technique took him all the way out of the play. Never commanded a double team ever.
