    Default Caulcrick??

As you can see, the lockout is taking a toll on some of these threads, including this one, but i was thinking about it the other day, why can't this guy get more playing time? I don't look at Corey McIntrye as a great fullback or dangerous runner. back in his Michigan State days, Caulcrick was a powerful runner and i believe in his senior season tallied 21 rushing td's. Does anyone else see him as an upgrade for our offense, mainloy on the goaline?

im gonna guess that the Bills staff thinks he's not as good as Mack Truck, usually how a depth chart goes. Not to mention Caulcrick hasnt translated into NFL talent as of yet,so his college stats done mean much, hes had his chances with the Jets too and hasnt shown much.

Well im not saying he is going to be a superstar but how does Mcintyre have more upside than him?

FBs dont rank up with their explosive running ability, its about blocking and its not sexy. Obviously he's performed better than Caulrick. Im not trying to be a dick because im glad people like you are starting conversations when theres not much to talk about. I just dont think theres really a big argument in either direction is all man. It could be as simple as Caulcrick learning Chans system before he can shine.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe Caulcrick is more of a running fullback than a blocking fullback. I think he was brought aboard to help on special teams and because the coaching staff was intrigued by the possibility of his being a short yardage specialist and backup behind Freddy and CJ. Now that they have drafted Johnny White and given McIntyre a contract extension, I anticipate Caulcrick getting cut before the season starts.

However, I will readily admit that I am intrigued by the guy's talent and college production. I'd love to see him and Johnny White both get a bunch of carries in preseason...if there IS a preseason, that is.

I believe he is not talented enough to carry the ball and not physical enough to be a blocker.

I don't know if this guy has upside or not but a general rule is if the Bills see a guy has upside they try their best to crush it as fast as possible

The reality is that nobody cares about a FB's upside. The position is a dying one in the NFL as more and more offenses go to spread attacks that rarely, if ever, use fullbacks. WCOs that use receiving fullbacks are in very short supply these days and other than that, most fullbacks are one-dimensional blockers.

If they were good enough to carry the ball in the NFL, they'd be converted to halfbacks. Anybody listed at fullback as their NFL position is basically just a blocker/special teamer/camp body. The only multi-faceted FB I can think of is McClain from Baltimore and he only gets the ball in short yardage situations.

How do more people not realize that C-Mac is one of the highest paid FB's in the NFL? If that doesn't tell you how much this staff values him, I don't know what will.
