Default I always wondered why the Bills weren't Toronto's team until now...

Up until now, I always wondered why the Buffalo Bills, a team 90 miles away from downtown toronto, was not Toronto's team. After all, Rochester, where I live now, is about 75 miles from Orchard Park and has fully accepted the Bills as its team. Why not Toronto?

I found out the hard way today. I went to the Yankees-Blue Jays game on Saturday. It was a great trip. Yankees were dominant, good food, good hotel, and good nightlife. All that was left was the drive home. In fact, I was not even driving all the way home. My grandmother's 80th birthday in East Amherst was today. So, after a great weekend in Toronto, I was heading back to my hometown to see my family.

I left at 11:20 AM this morning. I arrived at the birthday party at 3:20... It took me 4 hours to go from Toronto to East Amherst. 4 hours to drive 108 miles... Plus, I definitely was cutting people off left and right, so that could have been even longer.

First off, the QEW is officially obsolete for the amount of traffic it gets on a random Sunday in the summer, when there is not even an event going on. I got out of Toronto without a problem... About 30 minutes into my trip, i was in stop and go traffic for the next hour. Then it picked up again, before being back in stop and go traffic for another hour. Then, at the Lewiston Bridge, i was delayed another hour thanks to the Captain America wannabe customs guy, who decided to inspect cars at a 1 to 3 ratio compared to the other booths. After the bridge, it took me another half hour to get to the party.

It got me thinking... who in their right mind would do that 8 times a year??? What kind of corporation would buy up tickets and then try to treat their clients to that misery.???

I don't know if it was just today or if that is how it always is, but that was not a fun drive. I did not see any accidents or road construction either. Is it just too small of a highway???

If keeping the Bills in Buffalo is dependant on getting Toronto fans to come to games... Good luck!
In his closing press conference, Bill Polian said of the team that he built, "They're a very special group of men. Cherish them, you will not see their like again."

i wonder if that is normal traffic, or if it was so busy due to a lot of other people going to the same baseball game?

There was another game on sunday too. I went up to that one and I know what you mean about the traffic, by the time we got to the Spadina exit we must've sat there for about 45 minutes

I experienced that traffic coming INTO the game as well... but, that was expected.

What's the excuse that it took so long to drive from Toronto to Buffalo leaving at 11:20 on a random sunday? It is also worth noting that it was mostly Ontario license plates so it could not have been new yorkers heading home. Were 3M canadians really heading to the Galleria?
