This should never have been a question. CJ is all potential with nothing to show for it, Freddie is all production. He has done everything asked of him and been a team player. I was upset that he came out to the press and complained, but at the same time, I think I am more upset that he felt it necessary to do so. That is poor player management by the coaches and a lack of respect by the FO. I hate it when players get upset and speak out, but Freddie has been nothing but class. Him feeling like it was necessary really means he was upset and I am happy he put some pressure on the coaches to acknoweldge how good he is.

A 9th round draft pick should be more on the field.... if not we wasted our pick

Should have kept Lynch if you ask me....... we kept Jackson cause he had zero trade value.

"It’s telling and ultimately smart Gailey quickly moved to quiet the situation down. At this stage, Jackson is the superior player to Spiller, who just hasn’t performed well in games yet. Even Spiller seems to realize it."

The #9 pick knows UDFA is "superior" to him.

    Everyone knows this.

At this point Spiller is looking as valuable as Maybin.

He's not even close to Maybin. He actually had some value last year in the passing game and scored some TD's, he actually did something. The best player to compare him to is McKelvin, all talent but inconsistent.

This isn't about Fred Jackson being the starter. This is about Fred Jackson getting paid. If he's not crowned #1 he can't ask for more money.

Something tells me that if you doubled Jackson's salary and he'd never mention not being the #1 guy again.

I don't see why you wouldn't put them both on the field at the same time all the time. If you are in obvious running downs you have them, Chandler, Stevie, and the #2 WR on the field. It still leaves all great passing options open but they can both run. On passing downs, put spiller in the 4 wide as a slot receiver. Fred is the better pass blocker. As creative as Gailey is, wouldn't you want your 5 best receivers (Jackson and Spiller are in this group) on the field together? So they're both starters but Spiller is a flex position. End of story, end of controversy.

Fred's making less than $2M a year. He deserves a raise. Renegotiate DURING the season for next year with a new 3 year deal at least $10M total, $3M guaranteed.

To me, Freddy sounds like a whiner. I mean seriously, you're going to piss and moan because you didn't start a preseason game and cause a bunch of drama in the media? Give me a break. It's that type of attitude that got Evans shipped out of here too. Fred should be glad we have a two man backfield, its that change up that has helped him look so good. And of course they will start Spiller in the preseason, he needs the reps! I mean, this has to be explained to Fred? I thought it was common knowledge that if you got a young guy who has potential but isnt living up to it, you play him in the preseason.

Let's not go overboard. At least Spiller sees the field...
