Default My thoughts on yesterday's game. Not jumping off the bandwagon but....

Yesterday I a noticed routine from the bills that's becoming a little bit to familiar. The bills always seem to show flashes of being good and then before you know it reality sets in. I'm not saying that's definitely the case with this year's team but it do appear as if they still have that jinx going on with them.

The one thing that I'm starting to notice about this offense is they appear great against not so stellar defenses. Then when it's time to show up against contending defenses they seem to back down from the challenge. Yesterday on the offensive side it was like they had no clue of what to do to challenge the Jets. To me it was like they surrendered and couldn't wait to get the game over with. I seen looks on their faces that said we're just not good enough to compete with them but we will just do whatever to make the game a little interesting.

Donald Jones, to me isn't a #2. He did have a couple of chances to make plays and he's still having a hard time making catches. Right now he hasn't proven himself enough for me to get over the amount of balls he drops. David Nelson, Freddy Jackson, and Stevie Johnson were the only ones that appeared to want to challenge the Jets yesterday but they just couldn't get their teammates to follow their lead.

I'm still high on the bills because I'm a fan but I'm also starting to feel disappointment settling in. From what I see the bills just can't compete against the top defenses in the league. We have only two quality wins over the Eagles and Pats. The Pats defense been having problems all year. The thing is you just have to try to score just as much as their offense score.
The Eagles were without a few of their players on defense. Other then that the bills just isn't playing consistantly enough on offense. It's getting to a point where the only way you can expect the offense to perform at a high level is playing against a struggling defense. That's not gonna win you many games.

I hope the bills can turn things around starting next week. I believe that Chan Gailey can come up with something to get this offense going against the better defenses in the league. The question is can they execute? I'm ready to see a good team and a good team that can compete with the other great teams in the league. I don't want to keep being satisfied with beating teams we really should beat anyway. I want to see a good performance against the Steeleers, Ravens, Bengals, Jets, Pats, and other elite teams in the nfl. Cheering and getting amped about a win over the Dolphins, Browns, Rams, or any other sorry team out there is getting old to me.

It looked to me like Fitzpatrick is beginning to lock on primary targets a little too much.

Those two picks shouldn't have even been thrown to blanketed receivers.

He has to go through his reads quickly and if the primary target isn't opened either check down or throw the ball away.

It's the SECOND year of a rebuild. It wasn't reasonable to expect the Bills to be competitive with every team in the league after two drafts, and one and a half seasons. Reality was always extremely likely to set in.

Next year, maybe even 2013, should be when we start to demand results or assume this regime are failures.

OH these re-builds! 2013 - you're kidding!!!!!!! By then Stevie and more will have left, Kyle will be on long-term disability and we'll have a new QB. You have to plan to win each season! Unless you have a great QB you can't afford to re-build!

Johnson is our only WR and he is currently a FA after this season. They should have paid him last season. Same with Fitz, would have been much cheaper for both a year ago.

Also should have kept Lynch and Evans because Spiller and all WRs after Johnson are a downgrade. Spinning wheels in mud.

7th rounders and undrafted players will catch up to you eventually. Need some studs. Nice stories and all but need better talent. Especially at WR.

I agree so much with this thread but to take it a little further, a lot of the blame has to be blamed on the coaching staff. Sometimes it seems like Chan is holding the offense back and playing conservative...maybe because he doesn't believe in them against the "big" teams and "big" defenses. They didn't take any shots in the first half because they were scared to throw the ball at Revis and Cromartie. Well, guess what, when a defense is playing 'man' and pressing as hard as the Jet's were, the best way to beat that is to take shots and expose those one on one match ups. I dont care who there CB's are.

Chan Gailey had a brain fart of a day and forgot to put together a game plan. A no no for a head coach.

I hope that is the case. If so, I'm pretty sure Chan can spot it and fix it before next Sunday.

I think the Bills should have tried playing big against the Jets because of NY's D Line injuries. 2 TE's and a FB would have been a nice change of pace.

EXACTLY! Outside of Stevie ...these guys are getting made to look a lil better than they are because if Fitzy playing well inside this offense but there is a reason the guys like Revis, Cromartie & Williams get drafted as high as they did. Their better. I do keep in mind that we don't have Roscoe & Easley probably would have been the #2 if healthy but it is what it is & our guys couldn't beat theirs because their better

I know what you're saying but you have to remember who our recievers REALLY are. Outside of Stevie nobody would be a true #2 on another team. Those corners with an extra week to plan...i honestly didn't think we had a chance unless we ran the ball 35 times & wore them down. Chan have up on the run so the PA was irrelevant & outside os stevies one big play...the passing game looked lost ...bad game plan...worse execution
