To be fair, sometimes you get a Maybin, sometimes you get a JPP.

JPP can do 10 backflips consecutively at 275lbs. That's eye-popping athleticism. Not to mention he had the advantage of sitting behind and being mentored by guys like Osi, Tuck and Kiwanuka. This is the Bills. There is no such luck.

You could make a similar statement about any top prospect, bust or not. Aaron Maybin had a fantastic first step and great speed compared to other pass rushers, didn't help him much.

Didn't Maybin have something like 7 sacks this year? It had to help him a little bit.

6 sacks, but was a complete and utter non-factor in most games he played in, according to my Jets fan friends. Seems to make sense, since he had 11 tackles on the year.

I'm starting to think Coples might be the smart pick for the Bills. He played out of position a lot and got double teamed a lot. Those are pretty good excuses for having a down year, and it wasn't THAT down. It'll be interesting to see what his combine numbers are.

Aldon Smith is good. The 49ers d-line does help him out a lot.

Chan Gailey 12/26/2010 - Pass rush would of helped a couple of those. That guy (Tom Brady) stood back there forever and someone finally come open.

Are we all assuming, then, that the Bills will take Upshaw, Martin, Reif or the OT from Iowa in round 1?

If it's true that he drew a lot more attention from blockers than in his first 2 seasons, then I could see that happening. If we go Kelsay - Darius - Williams - Coples on the line, they could hardly afford to double Coples on every play or those other 3 guys will make them pay.

I feel better about leaving Kelsay in at 4-3 DE for a year or 2 after his performance this past regular season. It may have been his best yet. I had my doubts about Kelsay heading into the '11 season. Hopefully with the attention shifting away from Kelsay on the left side, he can take advantage of it and get more pressure on opposing QB's.

For what it's worth, I really like Melvin Ingram's athleticism. I would not be at all disappointed to see him in a Bills uniform next OTA's. Maybe he can play TE.

Not all of us. It's still early. Things will shape up after the combine.

    Oh yeah, Ingram > Upshaw.
