Thread: Next year

    Default Next year

I'm wondering what everyone's opinion is concerning where you think this team will be next year at this time. How was this offseason, how much improvement, will Gailey still be here, etc.

Hard to say right now. A lot depends on what they do in free agency (re-siging our own guys included) and the draft.

It's a make or break year for OBD and Buddy Nix. Nix has said that he thinks this is the year we make the playoffs. You can't make that sort of statement as a GM and then turn around and let Steve Johnson walk; especially after talking about how bad you want him back.

Johnson will either be resigned or franchised. I don't know why people think otherwise. I do agree that the coming season is a critical one for Nix/Gailey. If we don't win at least 9-10 games then I'm sure all the negative nancy's on this board will be screaming for their removal.

My expectation is playoffs with Fitz being a top 5 QB, or we replace Fitz with a player which has better upside.

If we do not make playoffs in 2012 I do NOT want Fitz to be QB entering 2013.

Its only make or break if ralph dies. bills could go 3-13 and Nix and possibly gailey would be safe. At their ages i dont think there worried about it too much

I think this is highly dependant on the QB.

    I think Nix stays regardless
I think Gailey only stays if Fitz is a top QB or Gailey replaces Fitz with a younger, better QB

Gailey needs to break .500, or he'll get fired.

I think he will. With the better schedule, guys getting back from injury, another good draft and a solid FA signing or 2, this team will be very competitive. Not a SB contender, but a playoff team.

Anything less than 7 wins for Gailey this year and he's fired.

If Gailey goes 6-10, but replaces Fitz about 6 games in with a rookie, I can see a situation where Gailey gets another year or two to work with a younger, better QB.

Especially if the defense improves, but the offense and QB lag in the improvement until a rookie replaces Fitz.

Gailey's long term success in Buffalo hinges on his ability to get good QB play. If he proves he picked a good QB, I can see him being given a reprieve.

How in the world could you possibly answer that???????????

I am more interested in where this team will be come September, since we do not even know the answer to that yet.

Otis. I know it's important where we are in September. But the question was do you think we will make any impact off season moves, will they work out, have the last two drafts finally been successful, and so on. Your opinion doesn't have to be a right or wrong answer. So far, most people don't seem satisfied with the last two years, and we haven't gotten any indication that the FO will make any IMPACT moves in FA this year. With the current roster we have and this draft coming up, I don't see us being much better than 8-8 if that.

I believe this is a make it or break it year for the team, the leadership (to include Russ, and Buddy), and the Head Coach. The team needs to get rid of bad debt (McGee, Merriman, Davis, Edwards, and Moorman). Yup I said Moorman. I dont understand how this team can continue paying this guy over $2 million when there are other options our there that can easily do what he is doing over the last 3 years.

McGee should be cut now, Davis and Edwards should be cut pending the draft, and Moorman should be cut now as well. Free up some cap space to get the one big ticket guy that can make huge impacts and that isnt Steve Johnson.

There are better WR's out there that I would pay 8-10 for and feel more comfortable than giving Steve 7-8.5. They would be Dwayne Bowe, Colston, and or V-Jax. All proven guys that have excelled at their positions year after year and bring little controversy with them (except about money)
