Default Eagles want a 3rd for Asante Samuel and...

He is willing to restructure his contract to make it work....IMO he would be the deep speed CB that we lack, however i think he fits a zone scheme much better and is not as good in man to man, but for a 3rd and like 6mil next yr he would provide us a legit #1 CB, Williams #2 McGee and Florence in Nickel/Dime and McKelvin as depth and kick returns

5 CBs that are capable starters in pretty **** deep however i think this front office wants to go get a young developmental CB in the 2nd or 3rd unless pick 10 is Kirkpatrick/Gilmore

I wonder if a 3rd and 5th would do it. We have 2 in each round. Nix likes his picks though so I'm not sure if he would bite.

    I wouldn't do a 3rd but a 4th and 5th I'd consider. Def would be an upgrade.

    Why trade a 3rd & a 5th when they are only asking a 3rd for him ?

Why on earth would we trade anything for a 31 year old CB that's slated to make $10 mil this year?

Pass. This team needs to stay young. I like the vets we have now.

The very first sentence states very clearly that he is willing to restructure his contract to make it work.

People are way to hung up on this myth that anyone over 30 can't play anymore.

I would love to trade for him, and hopefully by restructure he means take a pay cut, the 9.9 million base salary is far too high. I don't see it happening, but the again this off-season has been full of surprises from OBD.

Also, Asante Samuel is a terrible fit for our defense.

Wannstedt's 4-3 relies on spilling plays to the perimeter and having physical corners who can come up in run support and make tackles when running plays are forced to the outside.

Samuel might be the worst tackling corner in the NFL...

We have 2 4ths, 2 5ths and 2 7ths. And like the other person said, why would you trade a 3rd and 5th when they are asking for just a 3rd?

Upgrade? We already have 2 aging CBs on the roster already. Why would you want another? And I think Williams and McGee are better then Samuel. Samuel is more of a name then anything else. He played for the superbowl champs NE and then was let go. Not to mention he had a neck injury last year.

    Both were terrible decisions.

When corners hit 30 you should be the team looking to trade them; not the team looking to trade FOR them.

Let them want anything they want, just don't give it to them. If I were the Bills, I simply wouldn't trade with Philly. The Bills got robbed in 2009 in the Jason Peters trade. That was probably their own fault, but then Philly fleeced Washington out of a second for Donovan McNabb (luckily he didn't want to come to B-LO) and the next season they conned Arizona out of way too much for their failed starter, Kevin Kolb.

Philly is like a crooked old time horse trader. Maybe you get a good horse from him, but don't count on it.
