Default Solution for a need at CB

Trade for asante samuel. he wants out of philly, we could get him for a forth or fifth round pick. And the guy is pretty **** good. There, I said it, fire away!!!!

They won't do it. He is old and regressing. There is a reason Philly is getting rid of him.

The only CB we need is for the future. We're not a CB away from a superbowl run or something. We already have solid players for this year. Everyone wants Gilmore or Kirkpatrick because Florence and McGee are almost done and McKelvin most likely isn't coming back. Trading for Asante, especially with his contract, would be dumb.

This has been gone through elsewhere. Deep CB draft, and Samuel is too expensive, while also ageing. I've never been that much of a fan of his tbh - I don't think his game discipline is especially good. Imho, he takes too many chances to make a big play, and ends up getting burnt too often because of it. The exceptional CBs in this league, know instinctively when to go, and when to stay. Talented player, no doubt, but takes a disproportionate amount of risks to gain rewards, and on the balance of it, not enough rewards accrue.
People should understand that the name on the front of the uniform is more important than the one on the back.

Why bother drafting worse players than you already have on your roster?

Samuel is crap. He's old and he doesn't fit our scheme at all.

That's why Philly is trying to trade him.

He is due 9M this year and is 31 years old. He wont renegotiate that deal as it is probably his last lucative contract, and it would put us close to the cap for an aging CB... No thanks!

IF he had only 1 year left on his deal and we could renegotiate his cost down I wouldnt be totally against it

but considering he has 2 years left, I would not touch him

I live in Philadelphia and get to listen to half the sports announcers talk Samuel up even though I know he's garbage. Like everyone said, "he's due for just over 9 mil, getting old and wouldn't fit our scheme." God I hate living in Eagle country!
