Default With Merriman and Williams there is no excuse

If we don't win 9 games with Merriman and Williams coming off the edge.

If we don't win 9 games Fitz has to be gone.

The season hasn't started yet, and posters are speaking in absolutes. Some people really need to relax.

Ok, so what if Fitz finishes with a 100+ QB rating and we go 7-9?

    Who's fault is it then?

Merriman? Dude is depth. Anderson should start at RE.

Merriman is washed up until he proves otherwise.

And one does not necessarily effect the other. Eli Manning was great this season and arguably had the best DL in the league, but the Giants still only finished 9-7 and barely scraped into the playoffs.

Yes, Merriman is depth at this point unless he proves otherwise.

I'll be happy if the defense can get off the field on third down, but what I really want is dead quarterbacks. I want Brady crying on the field. I mean actual crying instead of the crybaby whining he does now. Real tears. Let's see 'em.

It would be nice if we didn't have to get 4 turnovers to win. If Fitz is leading the offense to 4TDs and it still takes a defensive score to win, that's a problem and it's not his.

This is correct. We have needed a better effort from the defense for years now. What did they give up last year? 27 PPG? That's not going to cut it over the long run as we saw last year.

The Pats and Packers gave up a ton of yards but were middle of the pack in PPG. I don't know what their 3rd down efficiency was and weren't the Pats D tops in red zone D?

But who would we get to replace Fitz? Someone from the draft? From what I've read, drafting a QB would be pretty expensive.

I'm with you. It's quite obvious that even if Fitz throws 80+ td's with only single digit INT's, he needs to be replaced.

Any QB that can't play defense in addition to offense (and play it well) is just a wasted roster spot and not a team player, imho.

I give Merriman a shelf life of three games max.
Any more is like finding a starter in the 7th round.
