    ...until camp...

I am hopeful for this guy to return to "lights out" form, I really do want him to succeed in Buffalo, just seems like him and McGee are two guys made of glass.

Buffaloben's post was intended sarcasm. He's skeptical of Merriman's ability to stay healthy. He's suggesting he'll stay healthy perhaps until training camp and then get hurt at some point. He is not doubting Merriman's medical clearance and current health.

this is where what you said is 100% wrong .......

The past could years Merriman has had the achilles injury. Last year he tried to rehab is WITHOUT surgery and took a huge risk hoping it would get better. With the lack of training camp, OTAs, and practices ...shawn had no way of testing it out.

Finally with Surgery: He 100% fixed the problem and will be good to go.

So hes not made of glass ..... he had the same injury and tried to fix the injury one way and it failed. Surgery fixed it completely.

McGee: He always does have some weird injuries. Its a shame ...when healthy hes a good CB.

Now this is where you went 100% wrong...

    2008 season

Merriman, sat out most of the 2008 NFL season due to injury.
During the 2008 training camp, Merriman had difficulty with his injured knee and sat out of practice for over two weeks. Initial reports were that his recovery would take a few weeks, but on August 23, Merriman reported that he had a tear in both his posterior cruciate ligament and lateral collateral ligament. He was told by doctors that he could sustain a possible career-threatening injury should he choose to play without having surgery. Merriman withheld his decision whether or not to play while seeking several different professional opinions, including that of well-known surgeon James Andrews of Birmingham, Alabama
. ESPN's Mike Tirico in the Chargers' Monday Night Football game that Merriman went to Miami, Florida to get a final opinion on his knee. On August 27, Merriman told Fox Sports that he would go against the advice of the doctors and will try to play through the injury, stating that he simply wants to play and that the career-ending possibilities were "misquoted."

On September 9, it was announced that Merriman would indeed go through with the reconstructive knee surgery to repair his torn knee ligaments and would be placed on the Injured Reserve, missing the rest of the 2008 NFL Season.[14]

Merriman at that point had a total of 39.5 sacks in 3 seasons and had made the Pro Bowl in all 3 seasons that he'd played. His 39.5 sacks are the most for any player from 2005 to 2007, edging out Jason Taylor by just one full sack. He had also been named First-Team All-Pro in his first 2 seasons, while earning a Second-Team All-Pro selection in his 3rd season.

    2009 season

In the 2009 season, Merriman was suffering from a painful foot injury as well as his troubled knees. He had only four sacks for the season.[

    2010 season

At the beginning of the calendar year, Merriman expressed concern that the Chargers may no longer want him, but said that his goal was to remain a Charger if possible.[citation needed] On March 4, 2010, the San Diego Chargers announced that they would place their first and third round franchise tender on Merriman, thus retaining him as a Charger. On August 13, 2010, after two weeks of hold out, Shawne Merriman signed tender and reported to camp.

On October 13, the Chargers announced that Merriman was being placed on injured reserve and, per NFL rules, would be released when he is healthy. Merriman had re-injured his calf against Oakland and has been limited in the first five weeks of the season.[16] Merriman was put on waivers by the Chargers on November 2, 2010. He was claimed by the Buffalo Bills the following day.[17]

On November 10, Merriman suffered an Achilles injury during his first workout with his new team.[18] Subsequently, on November 27, the Bills placed Merriman on season-ending injury reserve.[19] He signed a two-year contract extension with the Bills on January 1, 2011.[20]

    2011 season

On October 25, 2011 Merriman was placed on Injured Reserve list for the second consecutive season after suffering setbacks with a Achilles tendon.[21] Merriman finishes the season recording 9 tackles and a sack.

    (ripped from wikipedia)

So for the last4 seasons the guy has been hurt, battling some sort of injury, not just this recent one. Forgive me for not shooting my pistols in the are because he says he is "healthy." Again, I hope for the best, but my hopes are not up.

I'm glad he's back, I hope he returns to his dominating play and helps the team turn back into the beast of the east. With him and the rest of the D it's going to be a 2012 QB feast. Dinnertime..

He won't last the whole year...I'd even bet he doesn't make it half the season. Merriman isn't even close to being what he was and never will be again. Time to let him go!

The problem for Shawn is we have Anderson now to go crazy on pass rush situations.....

The fact that Kelsay was playing on that side was interesting to say the least....I really didnt think they would have kelsay switch sides.

Gailey said, we will have a 3 OR 4 man rotation at DE... Right now, that 3 man rotation is Williams, Kelsay, and Anderson.... If Shawne comes back healthy, he will be the OR factor....

I think he'll be cut before the end of camp. He just is not capable of staying healthy in his post 'roids career

Yeah I know some of you are excited about this but I am not even counting him as being a starter. He is far from the player he once was, at this point he is not even lights on let alone lights out but I wish him the best this season!

You're usually right Sampten, but I think on this one you're gonna end up wrong.

There wont be much "rotation" as far as Mario goes. You dont pay someone 100 mil. to not be on the field at least 85% of the defensive snaps. The rotation will be Kelsay, Anderson and Merriman. If Shawne is healthy, this defense will be sick!!! He is a huge inspirational leader!! Kelsay wouldnt see the field much, which is a win-win!!
