Default Rogers off to good start

Bills CB Justin Rogers was one of a handful of standouts at Day 1 of OTAs. Rogers was active in the secondary during teamwork drills. He had 2 of the better pass breakups on the day. His best came on a pass intended for Derek Hagan. Even though Hagan crisply broke off his route to [...]

Ya, Rodgers looked real good towards the end of the year, we are building a special group with the cbs.

Rogers is my sleeper player for this team this year. He reminds me of a Greer when he was a rookie but I think Rogers is better now than Greer was his 2nd year.

You do realize we'll probably keep 6 corners right? Theres more than enough room for both.

Not sure who threw the pass. But the other way to look at this news is "QB and Hagen not able to complete a pass against a second year second string CB". I am not cutting McKelvin just yet.
2011 - Smart posters warned everyone else, Fitzpatrick was a waste of a year. Now we all know.
2012 - Smart posters warned everyone else another season of Gailey was a waste of a year. Now we all know
2013 - Smart posters are warning everyone else another year of brandon/nix is a waste of a year. Next year we will all know.

I also like Rogers. I just don't know if he can cover on the outside but he would be my starting nickel CB

Its a breath of fresh air to be able to say that too after all of the crap we have gone through at the GM position over the years.. Nix has made his mark big time compared to them...

Both McKelvin and Rogers can make the team. It's not uncommon for teams to keep 10 DBs, especially in a pass happy league

McKelvin has done pretty much nothing to talk about, in respect of good things for his chosen position.
Rogers may not be quite as physically talented as McKelvin, but it would seem he already has a far firmer grasp of the part that matters, i.e. when the football is in the air.
While McKelvin could still turn things around, I think we've seen more positives from Rogers, including playing time last year, than we have had from McKelvin.
Note, in the balancing for that comment, we've seen a lot of bad from McKelvin, that we haven't seen from Rogers.

The sort of silly elitism, about draft picks, really needs to be tempered a lot more these days. #This 2nd year 2nd string type of comment is ludicrous, when put into the context that McKelvin could easily end up being 3rd string if he doesn't improve a lot.
People should understand that the name on the front of the uniform is more important than the one on the back.

Why bother drafting worse players than you already have on your roster?

Who didn't LOVE Leodis when he picked off Tom Brady week three in Buffalo????? I have a feeling McKelvin has a big season (6ints) this year with the new pass rush.

I thought we really got a gem when we drafted him. Did well last yr & expect him to take that next step this season. While I still think Gilmore & Williams start, having this guy as a backup as well as a nickle & dime guy is a huge plus. I agree with a previous poster that we are gonna field a nice group of CB's next season.

Y'know what? That's not as crazy as it first sounded. Hmmmm... I doubt McKelvin gets cut, but Rogers could see the field more.

And Leodis ain't too shabby on KO returns either. He can hit HR's. That stuff can win you a game or 2. What's Leodis' upside at this point?

This sort of silly fawning over a couple of player who makes two good plays in an OTA really needs to be tempered a lot more these days. Its really ludicrous to extrapolate a starting (starring!) role for a player who breaks up a pass too Derek Hagen during practice. McKelvin has played far better in the NFL for several seasons than most board members credit him with. Rogers may be the cats meow at some point. He should have as much chance as anyone else, but lets see him get it done over the course of a least a part of an NFL season before we cut a decent player like McKelvin please.

While I agree with this, I must also note that it's also questionable to twist the thread around to take a shot at the QB position, as you have done above. It's the first day of OTAs; it's silly to try and make any kind of statements about anyone yet until the pads are put on. Rogers did look pretty good for a rookie at the end of last year, hopefully he continues his development. Hopefully McKelvin develops his ability to see the ball and either intercept or knock down more passes.
