Default Who Bounces Back in 2012

Interesting poll results here on Walker's AFCE blog at ESPN. Seems not everyone thinks Fitz is so bad. I say he can cut the picks way down in 2012..

Scroll down to the article and poll.

Why not both Merriman and Fitzpatrick?

You know Wannstedt has the luxery of numbers at Merrimans position so he'll be fresh in rotation or whatever situational uses he has for him. Fitz should be better with health and coaching in year 2 of Gaileys offense.

If I had to choose one over the other, I couldn't without a crystal ball. Both could surprise, but I think Merriman has a comeback year that will leave mouths running on some at ESPN.

If Fitz's interceptions don't drop then Gailey and/or Fitz needs to go. With the defense we have, the RBs we have, Fitz should not have to throw nearly as much. Just that fact alone means his INTs should drop significantly.

I think whats going to tell the story on that is the accuracy of his deep throws. they have to take there shots downfield just as much as they have to run more IMO. hopfully his mechanics are going to give him that accuracy or the young should start by week blahh stuff prob needs to happen. if fitz cant throw deep consistently, then those S will just be double cover and run stuffers waiting like sharks to feast on fitz trying to cram it in a tight window. fitz to graham deep needs to be established early and often to loosen things up. when roscoe was healthy he was getting his bombs, so i think graham will have a bigger impact then people think at this point.

You're absolutely right. What I'm hoping for is enough drives set up by a good defense so that the "long bomb" throws aren't necessarily that long.

Graham- and Fitz for that matter- don't have to be great on the deep connection, they just have to be good enough- as you said, to keep the D honest. And hopefully Fitz's mechanics/arm strength improve so that he overthrows and it's incomplete rather than underthrows and it's picked.
