To say he is definitely capable of taking us to the playoffs is nonsense. You have nothing but blind faith to back that up. I also can't say I agree that Fitz has proven to be better than Bledsoe at this point.

If any old dog can be taught its Fitzpatrick. The hardest thing for him will not be comprehension of Lee's teaching, it will be doing the right stuff enough to take the place of the bad. Its a muscle memory thing. He has to recarve a motion and a follow through into his rhythm. Basically, its a rewire not a total replacement of the knowledge he has already.

^^ I agree. Add to this, Fitz doesn't have the "diva" or prima donna" attitude. He is teachable and that's not a given at this level.

Also, I have no idea what a "muscle memory thong" is...but it sounds restrictive

It will be interesting to see where Jaws ranks Fitz after watching every throw of his and other QB's.

Fitz played very well at the beginning of last year. Then he imploded. Was it because of his injury or is it that he can't be consistent for an entire season. There are no excuses this year. I believe he'll do well this year.

"Garbage" is over the top. That's why poster's here don't take you seriously. If you say he is average...OK. I get it. But to call the guy garbage...that's too far...and I am ANYTHING but a Fitz supporter.

Keep it "fair and balanced" : Fitz is an average to below avg QB. He is smart, but lacks physical tools. If he improves his mechanics and cuts down turnovers...he can be serviceable.

See, doesn't that sound better than : "He's garbage" JMO.

Injury had a lot less to do with the late season INT's then OL injuries and WR injuries.

4 of Fitz's top 5 WR's were either on IR (Parrish, Easley), missing games (Donald Jones), or playing with bad groin (Stevie).

Heck, we had to take our 3rd string QB and backup RB and START them at WR.

One thing Ive noticed from the OTA videos is that Fitz seems to be driving the ball down field with a lot more zip on it. Last year, it seemed many of those same passes would have floated down field. Thats a promising sign. I know that when Lee coached Pennington to his CBPOY season(where he was talked about as an MVP), the one thing that everyone clamored about was his increased arm strength. Thats all mechanics and driving the ball with your hips. I for one am excited about what Fitz will do. People seem to forget that 2 seasons ago, Eli Manning led the league in INT's, took his mechanics and film study more serious, and won a Super Bowl and a second SB MVP. Just sayin...

I just think a guy with a 18-39 record. with a career passer rating of 75, who led the league in interception last year is a little bit below avg. and if your a little bit below avg, your garbage in IMO. i just hope we can somehow pull out victories despite of him and use our strength which is running the football

Personally I like Fitz and think he is well underrated by some here... I don't think he is the best QB at all, but we is a top half QB EASILY, and could be more if this offseason work with Lee has any positive affect.

But then again a small group here thinks you have to trade, sign or make huge moves to get a new QB every season until one magically becomes a pro-bowler from day 1 all the way till the end.
    (In no particular order)
    Drew Brees
    Tom Brady
    Aaron Rogers
    Eli Manning

    Matt Shuab
    Ben Rothlisberger
    Tony Romo
    Mike Vick
    Phillip Rivers
    Jay Cutler
    Matthew Stafford
    Matt Ryan

Easily before any of these names? I'm not even sure he should be mentioned before Sam Bradford, Josh Freeman, Joey Flacco or Carson Palmer...

His saving grace, is being coached by Chan Gailey.

How many Full Training Camps has Fitzpatrick had as the #1 QB?

It made more sense the first way you had it.

Fitz haters are going to hate and that is a shame - they missed Jaws points entirely.

Some of you may not like Jaws but I always liked how he broke down film on Edge NFL and other shows - I think he has a good eye for issues.

He is dead on regarding Fitz IMO - when Fitz lost his mechanics, the throw was usually off. It looked like he had different motions for some throws, which is never good.

Jaws is also correct about Fitz capacity and willingness to change - Leaf had mechanics issues but would not take criticism well. Russell and others would not put in the time necessary or did not understand the position - Fitz will do both - understand the reason and put in the time to correct it.

I think he will improve, but it is natural to revert under pressure (that muscle memory thong/thing)- he will still make bad throws, but if he can reduce them, Lee was worth it.

All you guys that think he has a weak arm - T.O. 98 yd bomb - min 50 yards in the air on the money - it is impossible for a weak armed QB to pull off this throw:

Call him inconsistent on the deep ball, but you cannot say he has a weak arm
    Looking forward to 2013:

Manuel - most upside in the draft
Woods - most pro ready WR
Alonso - tall ILB with coverage skills
Goodwin - fastest WR in draft
Duke Williams - prince of a pick
Meeks - no he is not
Hopkins - best K prospect in the draft
    Gragg - vertical threat TE

Go ahead and complain - I am happy with this draft
Adopt a Bill - first choice Alonso, second Goodwin

Now you're just being argumentative. Fitz is plenty capable of getting us to the playoffs. Don't ignore the facts: Fitz is an average to slightly above average QB. (The stats prove that btw). He's working on getting better. At times last year he was great, at times he was awful. Lots of things factored into his "awful" games last year. I have a ton more confidence in Fitz than I ever did in Bledsoe.
