also if fans arent saying its high and mighty: Why does everyone want to stay at the Ralph?? The tailgating wont disappear .... it would just change locations!

retractable roof stadium / new convention center / Hotel : right on the water would be amazing! Generate millions for the buffalo economy and most importantly KEEP THE BILLS IN BUFFALO!

How much has Cleveland's waterfront stadium helped business there? How much has First Niagara Center, which has been open since 1996 and is used 10 times as much as a football stadium, helped anything downtown? It only helps anything on event days. The Cobblestone District around the arena is a ghost town on nights FNC is empty.

The third photo is just the Cowboys stadium on the Coast Guard spot.

Lastly, those two spots are only accessible by Route 5. One way in and one way out is not a good thing, ask Pats fans. Foxboro is notorious for that.
Wrong. The first and the third are the same location, but they are just south of the Coast Guard Station.

The second pic is where the wind farm is. The wind farm uses 30 acres of the 1,600+ acres available. As far as the brownfield classification, it needs to be cleaned up. Where is the problem with that?

BIG ISSUE with Cleveland: They built there stadium on the water (which is nice) But they boxed themselves in with parking lots!

Places like Heinz Field or Gillette there is tons of room other then just the stadium. Both have restaurants / shops around each stadium.

Gillette- With ALL the land on the outter harbor the Bills could easily do this.

Hotel, Restaurants, movie theaters, team museum and plenty of other stuff. So in the off season fans still have a reason go to the stadium and visit.

Now how does the stadium help business: If you link the subway system / bridge for cars to that outter harbor. Your bringing 65- 73,000 people to downtown Buffalo. Fans would have to park, tailgate, and hangout downtown. I am 100% sure fans would check out local bars before the game. If every fan spends 10 dollars x 73,000 = 730,000 in revenue for the city then times that by 8 games = $5,840,000. And easily fans will spend more then that on game day. $10 per person is low balling it!

Then a retractable roof stadium / modern convention center: It could bring tons and tons of events to Buffalo!

Note that Gillette is in Foxboro, not Boston. Similar to how RWS is in OP, not Buffalo. Foxboro has the space, which is why its there, and why RWS is where it is. Remember, the other option was a dome in Lancaster behind Lancaster High School, which also had a ton of space. I'm pretty sure the city wasnt considered. If they built it there, my current house would probably be a parking lot.

Also, the Outer Harbor is not easily accessible from downtown. The likelihood of downtown having any impact from a waterfront stadium is small. Maybe if the Metro Rail connected but thats it.

I stand corrected about the CG station, its the site of the former Pier restaurant. But if you look at a current Google satellite shot of the site, You'll see that the makers of that pic have added onto the site to fit the Ralph overlay in. As is, it wouldnt fit, and not even close.

The Bethlehem Steel/Wind farm site is the only logical option, but also probably the most costly due to the remediation, demolition, etc. Then the stadium is in Lackawanna, still not Buffalo. Its the only waterfront property that isnt valuable enough for anything else and is closest to major routes for access (Rt. 5, I-90 Milestrip exit) annd wouldnt be far from the current stadium.

It will also drive up real estate prices which increases tax revenue. Finally, it will just be **** beautiful to see the Bills stadium in the middle of Buffalo's skyline.
The Ralph is very old compared to the rest of the NFL and the remodel is throwing money away other than for structural safety needs. I don't think there is room for a stadium AND parking anywhere near the city center. Bottom line is WNY can't get a bass pro shop nor a new peace bridge but we are going to get a costly waterfront stadium? Wildly unlikely.

I'm in favor of a new stadium on the waterfront as well. There are very good arguments for and against it in this thread. The Problem I see with the Bethlehem steel site is that it is all reclaimed land. They just kept dumping coke slag out there. In the early 90's a canadian firm wanted to build an amusement park there. The testing on the ground showed that it could not hold large structures because of the soil make up. It would cost way to much money to remediate the land to hold a stadium. The outer harbor area would look nice but the infrastructure around it would have to be completely changed. Maybe doing so would get rid of the monstrosity known as the Skyway. This would entail millions and millions of dollars on top of the cost of the new stadium.

First: The City of Buffalo can build a bridge / subway extension back into the city. I know 100% there is a bridge being planned to connect the outter harbor / Buffalo. So thats an easy fix! And yes route 5 would be easy access for cars to leave the stadium.

2nd: I agree patriot place is in foxboro. I have been there 3 times for Bills games. But i bet you ANY money that if Buffalo had enough money ...... a patriot place with stadium could be built and fit in the outter Harbor! And it would be an awesome / sucessful idea! the outter Harbor is HUGE and way bigger then you think

But the Bills will never build a new stadium .....as chuck schumer about it!
