    Default Gilmore a different breed

Bills top pick Stephon Gilmore has looked like he belongs at the NFL level from the first day of OTAs. That’s why his chances are very good that he’s not just a starter on Buffalo’s defense, but a difference maker. First-round picks, even top 10 picks aren’t always locks to be playmakers as a rookie. Thanks for the update, but what about Aaron Williams & McKelvin?? To me it looks like Williams lacks the make up speed, but has playmaking ability (he needs safety help over the top). McKelvin has make up speed, but lacks the playmaking ability (he doesn't necessarily need safety help if he learns to make a play on the ball).

It's easy to see this on the field, but how do they both prepare and who seems more like an NFL veteran?

Id love to see Gilmore and Williams start at corner from day 1 of preseason. Heres what our present and future at corner looks like, go learn. I realize that Mcgee probably starts and Im also ok with that. Mckelvin would have no place on the team if it was up to me. I am more then happy with Mcgee, Gilmore, Williams, Rogers and Brooks.

McGee will get the start but based on recent trends I expect Williams to be starting by week 4 while McGee heals.
A new year, a new hope, go Bills.

I agree. Get rid of McKelvin. Also I agree that Williams will be starting by week 4. We all know that McGee will be hurt in the first few games.
I will never watch football again if the Bills move to Canada. I bleed Red and Blue. I love this team with every fiber of my being! My name is Bill and I'm a Buffalo Bill-o-holic

Hopefully we can trade McKelvin for a 5th round pick in the pre-season. Gilmore and Williams will be fine and McKelvin has at least the ability to land us a late round pick.

Unless we need the salary space, McKelvin is a top notch back up CB. I don't see how the team improves by cutting him.

2013 - Smart posters are warning everyone else another year of brandon/nix is a waste of a year. Next year we will all know.

Mckelvin makes less than 2 million this season. He is playing at such a bargain that I don't see anyway they cut him. Especially with McGee's questionable health. I know McKelvin is inconsistent and I dislike his play as much as anyone, but I don't see who they can get at this point who is that much of an upgrade, especially when you factor in McKelvin's low salary versus the higher salary any free agent would command.

I absolutely believe Gilmore WILL be a difference maker...but I believe most of the secondary has the POTENTIAL to be difference makers...Our improvements on the D-Line will give the entire seconday opportunities they didn't have last season

Mckelvin is the worst football player on the team. He should change the 21, to a target. The $ doesnt matter. You cut him beacuse he is a bigger bust then Maybin and I dont want to waste a roster spot on him. He brings nothing positive and has not only failed to improve, he has gotten worse. Thats how he hurts us. How is he a good back up? He should back up his car and drive it to any other stadium.

"I personally agree with Mayock. I've said this all year. I can guarantee that there will be a run on qb's in the first. This class is better than most think. They just have the bad "luck" of following last year's crop". I think the only qb's that will be considered at 8 are Smith, Barkley, Wilson, and (maybe) Glennon. quoted by whorlnuts....1/22/13

I know that jump balls which is his biggest weakness doesn't help my theory but ... I want to see McKelvin this year because I think Wannstedt is simplifying the defense so that players can react and not need to think. Not needing to think will be a big benefit for McKelvin...

Troll? How? The only guy on this D that I dont like, is Mckelvin. I even kind of like Kelsay. I just want the best for this team, and its to cut mckelvin.

Every year the Bills brass gives us this "prospect porn" before each season.

Defensive back is probably the hardest position on a defense to succeed at for a rookie. Defensive End being the other.

I think he will manage al right, there will be some times he gets burnt, especially against Tom Brady.

He won't be a shut down corner till probably year three. If he ever reaches that status.

We have the worst set of CBs in the division- close to New England.

Williams & Gillmore do have the potential but are far from reaching it.

Leodis is almost like Alex Smith at this point. He has reached his ceiling as a player and will no longer improve. He just sucks.
