I agree. Time for new hero's. Time to start winning again. Weather or not we have all of the pieces yet, remains to be seen.

PS No I don't hate Fitz and if guys like Jeff Hostetler and Trent Dilfer can win a SB, there's little doubt that Fitz can too.
Shaw does not belong on this list. I would have it in this order:
    Kelly
    Lamonica
    Bledsoe (in his prime)
    Reich
    Kemp

I loved Ferguson's heart but I am not sure how much an upgrade over Fitz he would be.

My answer would be OJ or Kelly but it will take more than one player to make us a contender. Look at our depth chart - how many current players would start on an all-time Bills team? Perhaps Mario accross from Bruce, but certainly no one from the O-line. If Byrd plays well for the next few years he could crack the starters, but not based on his brief career. Fred, who is one of our best players today, might have trouble getting carries over OJ, Thurman, Cookie and possibly Joe Cribbs. Stevie might not make the team if we only kept 6. Our current TEs would not sniff the field, ditto the LBs - Merriman at full strength might be on the team, but I still think he would not start but only brought in for pass rushes.

Riech would be better in this offense than Fitz but if Fitz can control the turnovers, it might be a tie eventually

Bottom line, no one player would do it. We need to be careful about drawing too many lessons from the Colts - Manning was not only the QB, he was basically their OC. Look what happened when Brady went down for the season - Matt Cassell won 11 games.
    Looking forward to 2013:

Manuel - most upside in the draft
Woods - most pro ready WR
Alonso - tall ILB with coverage skills
Goodwin - fastest WR in draft
Duke Williams - prince of a pick
Meeks - no he is not
Hopkins - best K prospect in the draft
    Gragg - vertical threat TE

Go ahead and complain - I am happy with this draft
Adopt a Bill - first choice Alonso, second Goodwin

.....no question Jim Kelly replacing Fitzy.....RF just doesn't have the passion, stones or leadership qualities of Jimbo.....honorable mention would be to put Bruce across from Mario ( with Kyle & Marcell up the middle)....with that d-line you might not even need linebackers......

You left out one thing-Fitz doesn't have Kelly's talent either. Fitz will do for now, but it's not even close.

Nothing to be sorry about. People also forget how good he was catching the football.

Run him or Thurman 25-30 times in SB 25 and it doesn't come down to the FG.

People tend to forget that for as good of a coach as Levy was, his coaching in SB25 was worse than Mike Martz against the Pats.
    ADOPT A BILL:
Cordy Glenn - let him play left tackle people. Geesh!

My expectations for our new coach are simple.
    1. Have the ability to locate decent stop gap players that are better players than the last ones who were on this roster for far too long.
    2. Win as many games as you can, but when you lose ... get beat, don't follow in the steps of your predecessors who seemed to try and find new and inventive ways to loose winnable games.

Is everyone forgetting how Jim and Bruce played in those SBs for the most part? Love them both, but Kelly has a pretty atrocious stat line in the SB.

Wow... I just glanced again at this thread. And i didnt see anyone else name him. I guess i was the only one. But the one player we are missing as of now that could be a difference enough to change our team and offense if we think the defense is solid and if we go based on those theories that we couldnt stretch the field.... I mean anyone can throw this guy a ball and he'll catch it... James Lofton. Interesting...

After rereading the first page I got you now. You're right. He did just want us all to name Kelly.
