Possibly, but then again don't be surprised if he 'catches on' with the Jets and than is released after week one for obvious reasons.

If Buddy waits until rosters need to be trimmed to 53, then it decreases the possibility that someone will do that.
Honestly what is any defensive genius like Bill Belichik or Rex Ryan going to learn about this teams offense that they don't already know? Especially considering how these teams have generally raped us in recent years, especially the Jets defense who Fitz never seems to do well against.

Sorry but the book has been out for a while in terms of stopping Gailey's offense, this is a primary reason I'm very concerned based on what I've seen in preseason so far.

Based on what I have seen on the field / TV, I agree with you. I haven't see anything from Thigpen last year or this year during games. Brad Smith hasn't shown me anything during games either. (Smith doesn't throw when in the Wildcat, so you could put TJ Graham in the shotgun and snap it him and the results would be the same)

Sorry, getting lucky with one long pass does not earn him the job......It's called learning the playbook that will get him on the team.....

I agree, get Young the reps. Even though he will get mostly an entire game against Detroit

So let me get this straight.....some of you think Young is to be criticized for not picking up the playbook fast enough? For heaven's sake, Thigpen has been working with Chan for YEARS in Kansas City and now Buffalo, so if knowing the playbook is the criteria, I guess I will take the better athlete on this one!

You can't release Thigpen until after the pre-season is over, one you give him a chance to come back, but two and most importantly, you cut him Monday he is in Jets, Miami, or NE's camp on Tuesday playbook in hand.

You cut a player when it is most strategically advantageous for you to do so. End of camp is when you cut a QB.

It will come! I think it should come before the steelers game but we will know for sure after the steelers game. VY does not have Harvard like intelligence but he does have the athletisim. It's nice to have a QB with both but we don't have one of those. I like Fitz and think Gailey has done a nice job fitting the scheme to match his strengths(wish we could run more though). Gailey will have to do the same with VY. Orchestrate the offense to exploit his strengths.

What happens if Thigpen comes in this week and throws 12/14 80 yards 1 TD and Vy comes in and throws 6/14 50 yards and an INT? Young may be ahead now but he is ahead because of 1 single pass.

Release Brad Smith, and see if Thigpen is willing to take a significant pay cut to stay on the team as the #3 qb... God forbid, Fitz goes down on IR, and then say Vince gets the nod but looks about as good as he did in Philly, it'd be nice to have a QB who atleast is familiar with the offense and our HC as the 3rd option.

i have a weird unrivaled hatred for tyler thigpen that i can not explain.. i just hate him for wasting away a position that could be in use by a young qb being groomed to be a starter behind Vince young athleticism and ryan fitzpatrick brains.bring back aaron corp or any young qb that seems to have alittle higher ceiling then horrible pigpen -.-
