    There's two questions here:

    1. Will OBD be completely convince that quarterback prospect X will be a franchise QB?
    2. Will a great QB prospect drop into their laps or will they have to give up draft picks?
    Michael: Who are you people?
Ben: We're the good guys Michael.

In very recent past i read :"Wannstache is a great defensive mind"
"Chan is a great offensive mind". "Ryan Pickspatrick is a great QB". "Mario Williams is a TOP DE in the NFL", that's just the last 3 years or so. So far every one of thoise quotes has been proven to be completely without basis in fact. The only reason the quote about Nix hasent been proven false is because he hasn't drafted one and exposed himself.
perhaps it may be that you ignore all the good in people and only focus on their shortcomings...people, even NFL players like Fitz and Mario, are human, after all - they are not perfect, but flawed, yet these flaws are so overblown and distorted in your eyes, you can only see the negativity, and that negativity turns to disdain and even hate, and that's not a good place to be, my friend.

Even if it wasn't a 1st rounder, we should have been drafting prospects. Guys like Kirk Cousins, or Ryan Mallett, or John Skelton, or TJ Yates, ....basically take a chance. I am fine if they bust or wash out. You just have to burn picks on looking for a QB.

Sure, give me RGIII, but if you don't get a clear shot.....take someone! It is a #s game.

If we don't get Geno Smith this year, take EJ Manuel, or Mike Glennon, someone......don't wait until the last round and grab another Levi Brown.
In all fairness, I have to disagree. I respect your posts and respect your opinons more times than not on these boards. However, you do not throw .... against a wall and hope something sticks.

I have wanted to draft a QB for the past decade lol... When you talk about someone like Mallett whom I absolutely loved... that is only of the only situations I will agree but you can not just take a guy to take a guy. Buffalo has had so many holes that you need to fill them instead of taking a risk...

Newton was without a doubt on the Bills radar but the issue was Newton went higher than we had hoped. That shows me Nix does and did want a QB but just were not able to get their guy. The wrong QB can set a franchise back more so than making the fan base at ease that we just selected a guy.

You can be a solid poster, but things aren't as black and white as they seem...guys have good days, guys have bad days...this team is growing together and there will be growing pains...Mario had a good game last week. It's only half a season on a new team in a new system. Fitz has 15 TD passes in 8 games, and has only 1 pick in his last two and a half games. The Texans (arguably the conference's best squad) didn't play that much better than us last week, they just converted their red zone opportunities into touchdowns. There are some positives if we choose to see them.

Nix had a hand in drafting 2 terrific QB's in San Diego as the Assistant GM to AJ Smith. I believe Nix doesn't want to make the mistake of drafting the wrong guy, because he has first hand knowledge of what it can do a franchise. If anyone can recall Nix and AJ Smith arrived at San Diego in the wake of the aftermath of the Ryan Leaf fiasco. They traded for Doug Flutie from Buffalo, then in 2002 draft Drew Brees, then Philip Rivers in 2006. I just wonder is Nix is being too wary of drafting the wrong guy.
he has had 3 chances and failed 3 times !

If you draft the wrong QB, you lose 3 years, but if you draft no QB, you never have any chance of getting a great one.

I hear you on that. At least it's something to hope for. It happened before and could happen again. Folks are just getting tired of waiting. I am hoping Easley finally gets a chance to play and shows some real ability.
