A new coach in the second year that has nothing invested in developing that player. Just after a rookie QB gets a system in his head, and the game starts slowing down a little, then he has to learn a whole new offensive language and the game speeds back up. Then when they don't progress fast enough the fan base turns, because most fans are idiots that do not understand how complex it is to learn new systems. It is what killed Alex Smiths development, Sam Bradford who is on his 3rd offensive system in three years, Bradey Quinns, Lienerts, Losmans, people forget he had an OK 2nd season as a starter, then they forced Fairchild who was going to be fired to take the Colorado job so Jauron could hire his exbuddy Shnort as OC, and well good by JP hello Edwards!, If Wilson and Brandon and Co. Are serious about drafting a new QB, cut ties with this lame duck staff now reset the clock with a new Coaching staff that has the time to develop a young QB before they get fired!
That is the problem. Buddy made it clear he is charge. He said he is staying and he is making the decision.

That won't change for a couple of years? when the Bills have a new owner. We are on hold right now.

Luck, RGIII, Cam Newton, Tannehill were all out of our reach.

So, basically we need to tank a season and pick #1 overall or we may never get the right QB...
trade up if you have to.

This is perfect. Nix has it right. Building the lines and the key player's and the vet mix. Now u plug a capable qb and we r off and winning faster than u think. I like nix a lot. Hes doing gr8. I'm fine with creating the system then adding the talent and the pieces. I like that a lot. Nothing like adding a young talented qb or even a fa vet to an already existing talented team and solid lines and playmakers. It's a perfect match and dream. I see us adding a few qbs, wrs, lbs, dbs.

Most teams dont do well with a rookie QB if you had not noticed. You can still see the QB is gonna be good.
I expect Mario Williams to get 100 sacks, $1,000,000 per sack, seems reasonable to me.
There is only one position that you should dole out $100,000,000 for and it starts with a Q. Just my opinion...
Show me a 2:1 TD to INT Ratio or show me a new QB

You mean like the worst defense in the NFL?

And most have very little to do with the QB! Tanenhill has not been good!! He has been so, so even by rookie standards, 5TD's 6int's 58pct completion rate with a great defense and running game, same with Wilson, it is not the QB's it is the play of the team around them OMG!. RGIII is better than those two, the Redskins are still 3-5. Luck is good, but lets face it, the Colts intentionally tanked last year, so they could get Luck, other than a QB they had the same team that was 12-4 the year before. It is like no matter how bad a young QB plays they get credit for playing great if the team does anything! Look at the history if the game, good teams with rookie QB's still play like good teams, Bad teams with rookie QB's still play like bad teams. Oh and the same applies to verterans. I am still trying to figure out how everyone now thinks we would be great with Tanennhill, though his stats stink compared to Fitz, and he has the easier path. Coach that runs the ball to set up playaction for him, and a defense that keeps the score down, rather then Gaileys pass to set up the pass, and a defense on pace to give up 600points forcing them into a shootout. Imagine Tannehill, and Wilson in shootout everyweek, by the end of the year they would be lynched!.

we might have the same record but there would be optimism with one of those two young guys. just having someone who is a threat to throw deep would be a big help.Fitz is a stale act.

You know how optimism last for the idiots on this board.! Bout 1half into the 1rst game, then they would be on here going on about what a reach Tannehill was and they should have drafted a CB, or waited till next year, or traded for Matt Flynn. Plus I doubt they would even be 3-5. Maybe they beat KC and Cleavland maybe! Or Tannehill gets overwhelmed having to be in a shootout, in this ACC Spread offense that will never work in the NFL, and always having to score 30+ points, throws 2+picks a game, the fans chant for whoever is the backup and burn his image in effigy, and his confidence destroyed forever!

No, I think he means the second-worst defense in the NFL ... so far.

And considering that we were always likely to look pretty bad in the first half of the year, what with switching system, coaches, and bringing in two FA starters and starting two rookies and a bunch of second-year guys, we will absolutely have to wait to see how good this defense is.

I predicted that they'd be not that good the first half of the year. And they had quite a decent game against an excellent Texans offense. They may be in the middle of a real improvement. Or not, though I would guess they are. But if you're smart, you understand that you have to wait and see.
