The Defense is really improving and we dont have any super offenses coming up.

This Team has an excellent shot at 8-8.

Really everything to me is how Fitz and the Defense look over the next 5 weeks...and I think we will be improving.

We were 4-12 in Gailey year 1 , 6-10 year 2, and 8-8 would be an excellent improvement. (and honestly 7-9 with a defense consistently playing like they have the last 2 weeks would make me feel good)

Most people on these boards picked buff to reasonably be between 8-8 and 10-6.

So I'm not sure if we can say this season has been a disaster just yet. Everyone believed the schedule had brutal, unfavorable stretches..and some of our easy spots turned into tougher teams.

Personally, I feel even if this team was ready to be a playoff team, we would only be a couple games off from where we are.

Then we have the "issues" on this team. Despite all the people complain about coaching, Fitz, coordinators..the problem on this team..what is separating us from a mediocre team from a playoff team is GUYS NOT MAKING PLAYS WHEN IT COUNTS!

We need a couple more play makers on this team and we CAN win that way!

+so this is my take on Fitz..this team can with him. He has played mediocre this year, and the deep ball is a problem..he's also not running as well and making big plays on his feet. But I don't feel he's a lost cause...give us a big WR and a few tweaks to the Offense and we can WIN. (I do feel you draft a QB in case and for the future)
it feels good to stay positive. after all, the colts made the blocks and got the pressure when they needed it. we didn't.

the Giants had a Super Bowl winning coach who out coached Belichick in the SB once already and a SB winning QB when they were 7-7

The Bills have a journeyman backup at QB and a guy with a record worse than Dick Jauron as a HC here

Since your name is "Gainesville bills fan". I'm assuming you don't live here in buffalo. What my problem is: buffalo sports radio is like listening to a funeral procession everyday. Its do negative and repetitive it's rediculious. 95% of fans can agree fitz sucks.

Then you listen to fitz / russ brandon interviews on Wgr. Both seem clueless. Russ seems 100% with not selling out games and seems content with the remaining "inventory" left for bills home games. He still 100% supports chan and Fitz. He has am excuse for everything. It's a boring and stail message.

Them fitz is an awful interview. He thinks the bills are "close" and just have to finish.

Buddy nix now is crying about qb questions and threatened to hang up during his interviews.

Without the NHL / Sabres. Buffalo seems like a miserable place to live

8-8 sucks!! Making and losing in the play-offs sucks! Only thing that matters is winning it all. Other than that this team fails!!

I have to say what hurts me the most about the season is how too often in games the team simply just quit. I had this team as winning nine games. I think anything less than 8-8 would be a failure. Indeed I understand thats not success in the NFL but if you are on this board you know the Bills are an unsuccessful franchise that likely will be moved once Ralph passes on. So I personally go to enjoy the games and drink a lot, not necessarily in that order. I bet if there wasnt tailgating and the party associated people wouldnt go because the Bills really have been bad this year and really have been much worse.

There is improvement, the team showed a lot by bringing in the best two DE's out there. There is some young talent in the secondary, a great back in spiller and a very solid #2 wr in SJ13. Mix in old head vet Fred, an improving O-line and a defense finally finding themselves its not hard to see where optimism comes from.

I recommend treating the next few sundays and fundays, drink, eat and be merry. There is nothing to lose because I pre accept the Bills will likely lose. A liberating thought.

I think playing .500, or 8-8, is a huge step forward
But I also agree that winning less than 8 is a failure
This team has to learn how to finish and that includes playing better ball in Dec
And I think getting as many wins as possible is one way to help re-singing Byrd and Levitre and attracting off season FA's
How our run defense finishes off the last 5 games is very important considering our inept they were mid season

I also agree with the poster here who said the standards for play imposed by the board on the QB position is highly unrealistic
Too bad the board also does not apply the same standard to ST and D play
Last week we lost by the margin of a punt return
I hardly saw a thread on that here
Our St coverage has been brutal at times this year
Everyone is just way too busy placing blame elsewhere to see the whole picture
    Just saying...

The OP does make 1 good point. I did a poll inpreseason and most people voted that the Bills would win 9 or 10 games. If we win out, those predictions will be true. I still think we will lose to Seattle and will split the 2 games with the Jets and Miami that remain to finish 7-9.

No excuses there. We should have torn right through the Colts' pourous defense and we didn't. Yeah the defense played OK, but not great. They played well enough to win, but the offense (especially the passing game) was terrible against a low ranked Colts defense. We only scored a single TD.

Drafting a QB in round 1 to replace Fitz or any other upgrade at QB would do more than anything else to attract FA's. We can still spend some on a FA, but players want to win too as well as make money and I believe Fitz doesn't inspire much confidence.

    Good OP Gainesville,

The board is full of over-reactors. Anyone who doesn't think 8-8 is a big improvement over the last 2 years has been playing too much Madden.

Indy didn't rebuild in a year, folks. They had a good team, had a year with no QB, then plugged the rookie QB of the decade into a solid team. 49ers were on a rebuild for years before they plugged in Harbaugh.
Bills are rebuilding, and over Nix's 3 years the talent has improved. If the Bills lose out heads should roll. But if they go 8-8 or even 9-7, both quite possible, it is a sign that things are going in the right direction. But just not fast enough for most the ADHD kids on this board.

This season appears like its going to play out like the Mularkey 9-7 season when the Bills beat a bunch of suck teams, but couldn't beat the good teams or third stringers. When you are only good enough to beat the suck teams, you still suck and should not be in the playoffs.

The Bills have about as good a chance of making the playoffs as they did in the Mularkey season and that wasn't a real big chance then either.

Been a Bills fan over 50 yrs we had decent run mid 60's I wasn't here to see much of it(was in Vietnam ) a great run late 80s early 90's but lately where are we going,at the start of every season I take out the schedule pick which away game I'm going to and which home game I'm flying back to unless there is going to be some major changes next year I will have to pass and just watch on the TV

Im done if the Bills dont get rid of Fitz or Chan. If the Bills comeback next year with Fitz or Chan back ...... i will not spend a dime on the Bills and probly find another team to root for.

Chan + Fitz comeback .... it just proves to me that the Bills are business first and dont care about winning at all and i am sick of losing and NO franchise QB. I am no rocket scientist or football god ...but i could tell you Fitz blows and a "professional" NFL coach chan gailey doesnt know that? i find pathetic!
