Fitzpatrick was signed in 2009. Levy was no longer the GM then. Brandon was.

I doubt that Jauron would ever endorse Fitz. I think DJ's refusal to agree to start Fitz over Edwards after Edwards put in a horrible performance (against Carolina IIRC) was what finally got Jauron fired. The offense had shown some life with Fitzpatrick subbing for Edwards for a couple of games, but then Edwards came back and the Bills offense returned to comatose mode. Jauron met with Brandon and Wilson the Monday after that game, and that's when he was fired. Perry Fewell was named interim HC and Fitz was named the starter. JMO, but I think that this is a plausible scenario.
