I'm not upset that Gailey doesn't throw Fitzpatrick under the bus after losses. No pro coach should ever do that. I get that. What irritates me is when Fitzpatrick is the main reason the Bills lost the game, and after the game, the media asks Chan about Fitzpatrick's performance, and Chan is quick to deflect the question and say something to the effect of "We needed to play better all around...", when the entire team WAS playing great football, and it was really Fitzpatrick who threw the game away. That's where Chan's blind loyalty to Fitzpatrick shines through and just slays me. Another perfect example would be after a few losses this year in which Fitzpatrick played absolutely terrible, and when asked about it after the game, Gailey simply replied, "Quarterback wasn't the problem...", when it SO clearly was.
I don't know. Not that my opinion truly matters in the grand scheme of things, but I wouldn't be opposed to Gailey coming back for the 2013 season if he actually had an accurate QB. Yeah, Chan needs to wake up and start feeding CJ the ball A LOT more, but he also needs a QB who isn't just going to play two or three good games a year based on the matchups he sees on defense. J.P. Losman was a perfect example of that: he was always spewing the "take what the defense gives you" line, and he did, and it got him nothing but three-and-outs and losses. Gailey needs a QB who WON'T take what the defense gives him, but rather will force the defense to actually react TO him.
