Adopt-A-Bill 2013: Mark Anderson
Last season, my anxiety was at dangerously high levels because of the initial uncertainty surrounding stevie johnson's FA
This season, with Levitre and Byrd ... I don't know how I'll even get sleep some nights
But on the bright side, there is just no way in hell we let a guy like Byrd walk. Just no way at all. One thing I like about Nix very much is that he seems to realize the importance of retaining your best players.

I think they'll cut both Kelsay and Anderson, and let Moore start next year before they let Byrd or Levitre walk. Plus, Spencer Johnson is a FA and we prob won't resign him with Carrington coming on, that's another 3m. With Kelsay, Anderson, Johnson and McGee (likely) all gone, that's like 10m right there that's freed up. Brad Smith is another 3m on that. So that's 13m right there and you haven't even yet had to cut someone of substance. Byrd and Levitre both stay. I wouldn't count on a huge splash in FA, though. I think we're going to fill our holes at LBer and QB through the draft. Maybe sign a WR to compete for #2.
We must keep Byrd. He is playing at a very high level, maybe best in the NFL. I do believe that having Gilmore on the team has helped the D overall. Including Byrd. At this point can anyone imagine our secondary this season WITHOUT Gilmore? Dont say that often for a rookie corner. He is a good one!
whoa nelly !!!!
Don't get hit
Open up the wallet and ask him to take out how much he wants. Between Moorman and Merriman there's a bit of change to start with. Too bad we don't save anything by cutting Kelsay. Still we should have enough to sign Levitre, Byrd and Moore.
ADOPT A BILL:
Cordy Glenn - let him play left tackle people. Geesh!
My expectations for our new coach are simple.
1. Have the ability to locate decent stop gap players that are better players than the last ones who were on this roster for far too long.
2. Win as many games as you can, but when you lose ... get beat, don't follow in the steps of your predecessors who seemed to try and find new and inventive ways to loose winnable games.
Bringing back memories of that draft after still fuming about the Maybin pick, and having to console my crying son because he was upset we picked Wood earlier than I prepared him for (and his favorite guy Everett Brown was still on the board), I remember wondering why at the time did we pick a CB with slower than 4.6 speed.
I didn't know they liked him as a safety and I'm glad the Bills did their homework then....he's been awesome.
Just for reference the highest paid Safety in the NFL is Eric Weddle. Here's his contract numbers per Rotoworld.
I don't think Byrd gets that much. 5yrs, 30M, 14M GTD is where I'd start.7/29/2011: Signed a five-year, $40 million contract. The deal contains $19 million guaranteed, including a $13 million signing bonus. 2012: $5 million, 2013: $6 million, 2014-2015: $7.5 million
Lets say, if those end up being the numbers or even higher, those numbers can be attained by cutting Kelsay and Thigpen. At that point its a no brainer for us to keep him. I'm hoping safeties salaries stay at their relatively modest levels and their isn't some crazy bidding war for his services.
"PAY HIM WHAT HE WANTS!!!"

WOW! This organization finally woke from it's slumber!
If he had 4.4 speed he'd be unbelievable.
Byrd is a baaaaad man
