The rate at which I am adding people to my ignore list is skyrocketing these past few days... This guy still hasn't realized that Gailey will be our coach next year regardless!

I agree with the OP completely. I'm not sure how the point of the thread eluded some of the people who responded early on there... I hope we win out, but I'd be pleased with 8-8 too. We'll get our guy next season regardless. Why not feel better this season and get a few wins?

Btw, I do believe Buddy said he'd trade picks if he had to to get the guy they want... am I just making that up or no? That would render the whole "lose to draft higher" argument useless.

(Or at least change the tune to, but we're trading more picks every time we win these "meaningless" games!)

No one circles the wagons like the Buffalo Bills.

Hey Man, did you not my response? I was trying to be peacemaker.

I got your response, and I appreciate that there are some level-headed posters on the board. That's why I said the "at least a lot of us are" at the end. Thanks

You want the highest pick possible unless you have a legitimate shot at winning the Super Bowl. We don't have a legitimate chance at winning the Super Bowl so I'd much rather finish 5-11 and be able to pick around 10th in every single round than finish 9-7 and miss the playoffs and end up picking around 20th in each round. I don't want the team to give up and I won't be rooting for a loss but I would be much happier with a higher draft pick than having a lower one and missing the playoffs.

Yes, you can find good players anywhere in the draft but the value of having a higher pick is irrefutable. The pool of players to choose from and the ability to maneuver are much improved with higher picks. It does not necessarily mean you will end up drafting a good player but the fact that having a higher pick in each round is much better than having a low one is irrefutable.

Then someone better tell Cincy and Seattle to quickly stop winning because they might get into the playoffs and drop a few draft picks.

    What would you rather have?

Those back to back wins vs the Giants and Jets in 2003 that brought the Bills to a 6-7 record at the end of week 14 or Philip Rivers/Ben Roethlisburger?

Those 2 QBs went back to college, lost a few years off the ears, and are entering the draft this year? You know of a QB that's going to win us 2 Super Bowls and become a likely future HOFer or a QB who's going to multiple Pro Bowls in this draft? Well if any other GM in the NFL knows what you know, we can't lose enough games because if they knew that, they'd draft him with one of the top 5 picks.

It's the same crap every year.

The Bills win a couple of meaningless games in the last half of the year, miss out on top NFL talent and Bills fans wonder why the team sucks year after year.

Marino fell because of cocaine. Now we just need to find a good QB who fell in the draft because of drugs.

Oh wait, we passed on Mallett. Ha.
When the Bills hired Jauron and Gailey, the team's misfortunes were 100% predictable. At least Marrone has a chance to succeed.

As angry as I am about the QB situation, i don't buy this argument at all. You can do all sorts of things to move up in the draft. I'd be way more pissed that they didnt trade for RGIII than if they beat the Rams. You can easily get a really good QB outside of the top 10, espcially with the poor crop of QBs this year. Who do you want to lose for? Matt Barkley? No thanks, I'd rather win.

What he is saying is that people want us to lose out because they think the only good quarterbacks come within the first 5-10 picks of the first round, which isn't true. He's saying that Dan Marino was taken late in the first round and Miami got their franchise guy for 15 years and they didn't lose out. There have been other drafts in the past where teams have taken a quarterback late in the first round and he's turned out to be pretty **** good. So people who want us to lose out just so we can grab a "franchise" quarterback need to understand that they don't just come early in the draft.

    Get it now, sweetie?

I found that to be an excellent point!

Coming from person who was ready to tank the season right after the Arizona win, your posts hold little weight.

Would it be meaningless for this team to get to 9-7, even if they don't make it to the playoffs? If you believe that's the case, there's just no arguing with you.

From the guy who wanted the Bills to draft Jevan Snead.

The Bills last 3 first rounders are Spiller, Dareus, and Gilmore. All either great (Spiller) or solid for being youngsters. You can't blame Maybin, McKelvin, Lynch, Whitner, Losman or Evans on the current regime.

I would rather win out. Then see the Bills brass actually grow a pair and make a move to get the player they like if one is there. If they keep waiting for one to fall in their lap it could take another 10 years. I know we have drafted busts and other teams have drafted busts, there are examples every year, you don't need to go back to 1983. But that Don't mean you don't take a chance on a guy. You think the Skins and their fans are sad they gave up a lot for RG3? hells no! Take a chance, get a guy! Kelly retired 15 years ago FCOL!

as a fan I want to see the team win. but what I want and what transpires are two different results, especially with the present team.

that said I unfortunately see four losses ahead rather than four wins, especially within the division so 5-11 could be a more realistic finish than 9-7.

as for either record, if they wanted a pick that was higher and was worth it, then trade up. seems the so called future franchise Qb may not even be in the top 10.

even with a potential prospect I have zero faith in the man calling the plays and currently holding the title of hc to lead this team to a winning record.
