My question is that if Rivers is surrounded by terrible players, then why not keep him and build around him? The other position are probably easier to fill then a QB of his ability. Why should he be made available?

Actually, I believe they are keeping the thought of trading Rivers in the back of their mind. This team may rebuild from the ground up and get more picks for Rivers, kinda like the Bengals did with Palmer. So it is a very good possibility they they may trade Rivers

Only if they have someone to take over for Rivers. Any idea who that might be? Just asking........

Yeah, the Bills also missed out on those aces Kevin Kolb and Jason Campbell. Too bad they bit on Drew Bledsoe.

I agree. I've only watched him a couple of times this season, but he's NOT looked good at all.

I think its pretty obvious that Rivers has a crumby supporting cast.
Rivers didn't have a bad OL last season, and he still threw tons of INTs. As for the excuse that he's no longer got great receivers, what the hell would he do with the Bills receivers? Aside from Stevie and Chandler, I seriously doubt that the rest of the Bills receivers would be more than STers on most NFL teams.

IMO, Rivers is a lot like Bledsoe in that he needs to have a very good supporting cast to play well. Without that, he's nowhere near as good. There are also some analysts who are convinced there may be something physically wrong with him.

If Rivers was a FA and Nix signed him, I wouldn't object. However, I wouldn't want the Bills to trade for him.

BTW, there are some rumors circulating on at least one Jests MB that the Chargers are going to fire both GM AJ Smith and HC Norv Turner at the end of the season.

Not sure, but they could find him in the draft similar to the way the Bengals did. You never know. I'm not saying that they most def are trading Rivers, I'm just saying it is more of a possibility than what alot of ppl think

I understand. I just don't really see them getting rid of him yet.

Of the options "available", my order of preference would be:

    1) Draft a qb in rd 1 or 2

    2) Rivers if avail

    3) draft a qb in rds 3-6

    4) Vick

    fancy,

Zippy would say yes to Rivers if the price was right. He's got a great arm and he's just ornery enough to handle 'the circus' in Buffalo. In some ways he reminds the Zipster of Kelly in his playing days; kind of an ***hole. At this point, a change would do him good. The question is, would Chan change his playbook to accommodate River's skill set? Answer ..... no.

AJ Smith should be FIRED TODAY for the mistake he made with Brees and Rivers.....

Give me either of these two with this offensive line and Gailey's playcalling and you have yourself a deal. This year's QB class looks to be chock full of duds as well. Like Nix said the only thing worse than not drafting a franchise QB is drafting the wrong one. You bring in one of these guys and spend the first two picks on a linebacker and receiver and I think we got some serious competition in store for us next season.

Have people been watching Rivers? He's not all that great anymore. He never had a strong arm, but it's even worse now - if you guys hate Fitzpatrick "floating" passes, you're not going to be very happy with Rivers. He's even older than Fitz, would probably get a larger contract, and certainly isn't getting any better. Even if he is better than Fitz, he's certainly not the QB of the future for this team.

Yay another Vick thread with a side of Rivers.....

Mmmmmmm nice. The current conversation train wrecks dotting the main about this very thing weren't good enough to comment on???

Just a repeat of the VY debacle.
