Default Is Buffalo Screwed In This Year's (potential) Coaching Search?

There are a lot of coaches that could be on the chopping block this year. Keep in mind, during the disastrous 2010 coaching search, there were only 3 openings league wide: Buffalo, Seattle, Washington. This year there looks like there will be a lot more. Seeing how Buffalo is not exactly a destination for coaches, are we stuck with another Gailey caliber hire if they do decide to make the change?

My list of coaches on the chopping block:

    Dead men walking:

    San Diego - Norv Turner
    Kansas City - Romeo Crennel
    Philadelphia - Andy Reid

    Very hot seats:
    Cleveland - Pat Schurmer
    Buffalo - Chan Gailey
    Tennessee - Mike Munchak
    Detroit - Jim Schwartz
    Carolina - Ron Rivera
    Arizona - Ken Whisenhunt

    Possible fires:

    Jacksonville - Mike Mularkey
    Dallas - Jason Garrett
    Chicago - Lovie Smith
    Oakland - Dennis Allen
New Orleans (FA) - Sean Payton (FA)

That's potentially 14 teams making changes at Head Coach. Granted, nowhere near 14 teams will actually be making changes, but the competition for top coaching prospects will be fierce.
    Time to scuttle the no-huddle.

Why is Gailey not dead walking????
I take AIDS from the patient, and feed the patient on AIDS, I give it to him as a kebab skewer to feed on, he said, presumably metaphorically. I take the disease, and I give it to him as food, and this is the top of scientific miracles.

What can you say, it's been cured ^^^^

I think he should be. But I think the probability of him actually being fired is a bit less than those in the top tier (where there is pretty much no doubt at all that they're are gone). We are debating whether or not Gailey will be fired. Fans of SD, KC, and PHI are all but sure their coach will be fired.

I'd rather they try to get lucky with a young coach than get another retread.
When will the Bills find the heir to Losman?

Ya, but there could be 8 other teams vying for that same young up-and-comer.

At this point I really don't think he will get fired....but I do think we will change the dc job and maybe even bring in an oc... We need a different look on this team....

Gailey will be back...just face it now

Get a young gun from college. Start getting in players' faces.

Will Buffalo be able to compete with San Diego, Philadelphia, Carolina (where he lives), and even Cleveland (where he began his playing and coaching career and with a new owner). Of course that's only if he were to decide to come back to coaching, which I think is unlikely.

Buffalo is screwed in the Head Coach search because of OBD. Does ANYONE have ANY confidence they can do something constructive?

I feel like Rex has done pretty well for the talent he has been given. He needs to find himself a real OC FAST though.

Why do u think we always get the retreads...Buffalo is a coach's graveyard...we get the walking dead or the terminally ill.

I think Buffalo is an attractive job....we got playmakers in Spiller, Stevie, Kyle, Mario and Byrd, we have a top 10 O-line and another top 10 pick. We also have some former high picks in Dareus, Gilmore, Glenn, Aaron Williams ect....I think we sell ourselves short.....Buffalo coaching job isn't all that bad
There are 3 steps to "Building Through the Draft"
    1. Draft
    2. Develop
    3. Retain

    Dead men walking:
    San Diego - Norv Turner
    Kansas City - Romeo Crennel
    Philadelphia - Andy Reid

    Very hot seats:
Cleveland - Pat Schurmer - Gone
Buffalo - Chan Gailey - Gone as soon as this week
Tennessee - Mike Munchak - Safe
Detroit - Jim Schwartz - Safe
Carolina - Ron Rivera - I don't think he's going to be fired
    Arizona - Ken Whisenhunt - He's gone

    Possible fires:
Jacksonville - Mike Mularkey - Won't be fired after one year
Dallas - Jason Garrett - Is safe
Chicago - Lovie Smith - Possible, the team has collapsed
Oakland - Dennis Allen - Staying most likely, he'll be given more than one year
New Orleans (FA) - Sean Payton (FA) - Staying

Now if you rank those ones as most attractive the Bills might be near the top.

San Diego isn't a very good team but they have an old QB who has been bad the last two years.
Philadelphia is going to be gutted this off season and start fresh. Not sure a good head coach wants to do that if they want to win now.
Kansas City is kind of strange. They're a bad team with a bad QB but have some good young players
Now Buffalo is an attractive team imo because of the young talent that we have. A great D Line and O line, Spiller is electric. Gilmore is promising as a rookie, and Byrd if they bring him back (hopefully) is a top 3 safety in the league.
Cleveland has a good defense, but they drafted a 29 year old rookie QB. Not going to work. They'd need to draft another one and grab a receiver to be a good team at all which is possible.
Arizona needs a QB, an offensive line, but they have a solid defense.
Chicago is a team that can win now.

In my opinion it goes like this

    Chicago > Philly > Buffalo > San Diego > KC > Cleveland > Arizona
