Even if Stevie's actual drop numbers are near league average, WHEN he drops them is a tremendous issue. Worst. Possible. Times.

So let me understand this, the receivers are running whatever routes but Fitz is bad because he can't accurately predict the route his recievers are going to run? Maybe if they ran a less confusing route Fitz could be accurate!
When it comes to this particular statistic, it's a valid argument. I'm guessing SJ would have like 3 "official" drops. Meanwhile, he dropped 3 last week alone. Not sure what they consider to be drops...in my book, if you get two clean hands on the ball (not fingertips), it's a drop. And SJ has had A LOT.
Stevie would be a pro-bowler with a real QB.
When will the Bills find the heir to Losman?
He will get his chance. I hope you are right. nothing I want more than a great QB & WR Combo.

He has dropped enough to have the reputation that he drops the ball. I have never heard anyone say Great hands and SJ13 in the same sentence. He can catch the ball but he has the unfortunate luck of drop a 2yd slants or some easy catch. The dude can Ball some games but thats his job so it shouldn't be surprise. Just stop making the easy catches look so hard.
(Scott Chandler has great hands)
So we've gone from "drops the ball too much" to not having great hands. OK.
Dudes who don't drop the ball allot also don't have it thrown to them allot. Look at the leaders on that list... Think Victor Cruz or Calvin Johnson "don't have great hands" ?

The way that dropped balls are counted is pretty dubious. I remember last season Stevie Johnson had low official drop totals, but just watching back through the first 5 games of the season alone he already had a greater number of blatant drops than his official numbers.
This Is My Opinion. Im not trying to convince you he sucks. If you want to think SJ has great has or is a pro-bowl WR go ahead. Just sayin he has bad hands(some games)catches 52.5% of passes.
You people are beautiful... Now we're attempting to discredit the statisticians? If the "dubiousness" applies to one, it applies relatively to all.
When you go count every drop from every receiver through the past 16 weeks of NFL games, then you can come here and tell us how "dubious" the CBS Sports stats are. Until then, bad argument.

Well, there's no openly established criteria for what constitutes an official "dropped" pass. Of course I'm going to challenge it, because the official numbers don't even remotely agree with casual observation. There's no "official" definition for an "official" stat. That's a problem.
And Stevie's legacy is dropping game-winners, key third down passes and the like. Even if his drop numbers are near league average, the timing on his drops is absolutely awful.
I will give you that. He does drop some at critical times, based on casual observation... Have no idea how that stacks up to others around the league, relatively speaking. Impossible to have a stat for that one...
