Kirk Cousins - already shown more than Fitz
Tarvaris Jackson - more success than Fitz as a starter
Alex Smith - way better than Fitz
Nick Foles/Michael Vick (whichever you consider or backup at this point)\
Sean Hill - Dude has had way more success then Fitz ever had in his role and never got a chance
Matt Flynn - no team in the NFL all things equal would choose Fitz over Flynn
Matt Hassleback - showed he can play still, better than Fitz ever was
Matt Cassell - more success than Fitz as a starter, will be a better backup than Fitz

    Fitz even with
    Chad Henne
    Derek Andersen
Kevin Kolb - will be a backup next year, likely, might start, is better than Fitz but gets hurt too much

Then there are unknowns, like Ryan Mallet.

Fitz will by no means be a lock to even be considered a top 15 backup on a team next year.
Success? I didn't say success. I said more NFL starting experience. The experience as a starter in the NFL means playing time, which is important, and also the reason Cousins may not be as good a backup. I actually think people jumped the gun on Foles... don't know that he'll even retain his starting job next year.

Many of those names you brought up are debateable in terms of success when you consider the quality of team/coach that he played with/for: Orton, TJax, Vick (he's over the hill, no way you can say he's better now), Hill, Flynn, & Cassel (ya kiddin? He played for the mad genius with the "insert any player here and be successful" system).

Hasselback falls under the category of very close to retirement and not a good long-term backup.

Not makin very good arguments here.

Fitz has more than the equivalent of 3 full season under his belt as a starter in the NFL and is in the "prime" of his career in terms of age.

I don't really see how Henne, Kolb, or Anderson are better backups.

Hassleback is a way better backup than Fitzpatrick. What the heck is your definition of long term backup in the NFL? If it is anything more than 3 years then you are crazy. Hassleback will be a primary backup in the NFL for at least 3 more years.

I have some basic wishes...first, I think our new coach will be very good at his new job, and I wish him all the luck he needs. I wish we draft a good QB in the later rounds, Nassim seems to be a good choice.
I want us to draft a guy like Manti Teo (I hope I got that right) in the first, and maybe trade back to gain more picks. I'm wishing for an established receiver go with Stevie. Most of all, I hope Buffalo gets that
new stadium downtown by the water. It will create many jobs in the long term, and give Buffalo a team, and downtown to be proud of. Oh, and being a Canadian, who loves this team, NO MORE TORONTO GAMES!
That is my wish list, I think the Bills will do well this on coming season.

What did I shift? You may just not know how to read. Describe what you misinterpreted then.

Luck looked horrible yesterday....his team overachieved (aka, they were lucky) - they were outscored this season, and Fitz had far better numbers than Luck...he will be a bust and certainly not worthy of the number one pick overall. Fitz played on a horrible team where if he didn't play perfectly, he had no chance of winning. Luck would have been fortunate to win three games with the Bills.

In this quote, you state that there are clearly 10 QBs better than Fitz and 3 that are at least his equal.

In this quote, you clearly backtrack on your argument. Why don't you continue with the obvious fact that Fitz is worse than those 10 other guys? If it's such an easy argument, why are you allowing the possibility that Fitz is even equal to those other QBs?

you never give up do you? Fitz is not a good starting NFL QB. The bills do not have one on their roster.

I cannot WAIT until that sweet day when Bills fans can stop arguing about Ryan Fitzpatrick!

Never has so much energy been wasted on a journeyman backup who has done NOTHING in the NFL that any other journeyman backup could not do. There is nothing special about Fitzpatrick. He's better than trent. Big whoop.

Soon this nonsense will end I hope.
    Yes I'm back. You're welcome.

Only 6 picks in the draft and only 1 can be a qb, maybe one in free agency, ftz will at minimum be the third string if he will restructure! If the defense doesn't put Fitz in a situation where he has to be a gunslinger Fitz is serviceable! May not be popular but is true!
