I like the guy, some say he did a ton of heavy lifting for Ryan. I feel like he would be aggressive, versatile, and a much needed shot in the arm for this defense. No to mention it would be nice to get an edge on Ryan's system next year.

Does this mean back to the 3-4?

I love Pettine for two reasons. He's good, and it further weakens the Jets.

The question for OBD will be simple.. Who will play nose tackle, and do we have a guy on the roster that won't get pushed around.
Without a great NT like Vince Wilfork, it simply WILL NOT WORK..

So, we have to believe that we can play a 34, or that Pettine can coach a 43..

Don't think we're going to be married to a particular scheme on Defense if we hire Pettine. We'll play both the 3-4 and 4-3 and I assume a lot of 46. This dude is a sharp mind. His game plan v the Patriots 2 years ago in the Divisional round was impressive and really confused Tom Brady.

I'm really excited for whoever we get. Marrone seems like a no nonsense type of coach. He'll want someone who works as hard as he does and has the results to prove it.

Do not take this the wrong way, not tying to be rude, but when did Pettine coach a 43? I know the Jets had some 43 looks, however, I don't think that makes the guy well versed. The Bills ran a "creep" defense at times, but that does not make Wanny well versed in that style...

Again, I could be wrong here but Pettine coached in Baltimore whom is a 34 and in jersey with the 34 style Jets.

He has used the 4-3 in the last 2 seasons, not to mention use the 4-6 front. We will not be switching if he joins us, relax.

Why does everyone think a defensive coordinator is only hard-wired to coach one base formation?

If he lines his team up in the 4-3, does he then turn in to a neanderthal? I'm sure he knows every defensive concept and alignment and can run them efficiently. Some coordinators just believe in different base packages more, and then use them predominantly.
