Bills are going to go BPA with the #8 pick.

    That's obvious.

Because of that, I don't see how a QB is in play with our 1st rounder.

    Nix has always gone BPA.

What makes you think he'll abandon his board this year and reach for a QB?

That's actually why I think we may end up with a DE/OLB or WR with our first pick this year. I don't know, I just think Buddy really likes one of these quarterbacks and is going to do whatever possible to get one. I mean he's basically said we WILL be drafting a quarterback this year.

Saying he's going to draft a QB doesn't mean he's going to draft a QB in the first round.

Nix stance is and always has been that if there's a guy they think can be a franchise QB available when they pick, that they'll pick him.

After watching him pass on Clausen, Locker, Gabbert, Ponder, Dalton, Kaepernick, Weeden and Wilson, I don't see how he'll all of a sudden want one of these guys in round 1. None of the QBs in this draft are any better than the guys he's been passing on for the last three drafts.

    No analytics ...

More like going to the casino with blindfolds on.

Maybe we should be studying the 49ers!

Nix has recently said that he didn't want to draft a quarterback until he addressed both offensive and defensive lines; he's done that. He didn't want to do to our quarterback what St. Louis did to Bradford and have a terrible offensive line and hurt Bradford's development. Nix himself said a few months ago that he feels like he's built a good offensive line and that this team has enough depth to where if he liked a quarterback he could trade up to get them.

So I personally believe if Nix likes Smith, Barkley, Wilson or Glennon and thinks the only way he'll have a shot at one of this is to trade up, he'll trade up. You can't be as adamant about drafting a quarterback this year like Nix has and just sit on your hands and hope a quarterback falls in your lap. Unless he likes some mid-late round quarterback, it's just not gonna happen.

Good write up OP. nice work.

People need to remember when talking about BPA, it is according to Nix's list. Nix may have a qb in his top 8, regardless if Mayock, Kiper and fans don't.

But your analysis clearly shows Nix always goes BPA with his first round picks.

What was the purpose of looking into the trends of who we've picked if you're just going to disregard your findings?

And I don't buy a **** thing Buddy Nix has said about QBs. It's easy to talk about who you liked and didn't like after you see how good they look as pros.
