Because if he is, I think it is worth it to take a chance on him at #8, as long as everything proves okay with his shoulder, and Smith is off the board.
2nd round, I could see us going BPA at LB or WR
3rd round, same deal as 2nd round

I don't know of any definite reason why he couldn't be as good as Andy Dalton.
Nassib reminds me a lot of Dalton as well. One quirk with Nassib, I find it strange that any route from 5-15 yards, he looks like he has a cannon of an arm, and then on deep balls, he's constantly under-throwing his wr's. weird..
Won't happen at #8, your best hope is 2nd round OR trade down.
I told my friends this yesterday... If we pass on a QB and the available QBS go else where and become Dalton, keeper nick, or Wilson types, nix and Whaley need to be fired immediately. With that said I don't know if we can risk not taking one at 8. You'll never get a QB unless we draft one. I think we gotta take a chance
Andy Dalton is a below average NFL QB with hardly any upside.
However, I think the comparison is valid.
15th in completion percentage
20th in YPA
15th in QB Rating
One fourth-quarter comeback and three game-winning drives this year (according to Pro Football Reference)
In your second year, those are anything but below average. Above average, actually. And as for having no upside, it doesn't make sense. He made a major step up this year, and is still very early in his career.
His YPA went up from 6.6 to 6.9
His QB Rating went up from 80.4 to 87.4
His completion percentage went up from 58.1 to 62.3
He increased by nearly half his TDs per attempt
His INT percentage got worse, but it went from (2.5) very good to (3.0) slightly below average. This will be a problem if the trend continues, but his good record of avoiding INTs in his first year gives hope that this might be an aberration.
I'm not sure Barkley and Dalton are a good comparison. But if they are, we should grab Barkley. Dalton shows every sign of being a fine young QB who's still improving.
Before you die Lonestar, there is something you should know... I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roomate.

No, Andy Dalton is better.
