Just because Wilson may be an Elite QB doesn't mean Flynn isn't also very good or better... see the 49ers again for that argument.
I don't disagree. I doubt Flynn is the answer, but he really hasn't had a good shot at showing what he can do. If Flynn is all the Bills do, I'll be disappointed, because I think the top QBs in the draft are better prospects than Flynn. In other words, Flynn MIGHT be the answer, but he is at best only marginally different from VInce Young and Tarvaris Jackson.

I wanted the Bills to draft Wilson, but having watched him for a while now, I have my doubts about his long-term prospects. When they take his runs away from him (and they will, either through defensive adjustments or physical pounding that slows him down), he'll have to depend strictly on his arm, and I'm not convinced he's a Brees-level thrower and field general. Time will tell, but it's easy to see him having his best seasons in the first three years of his career and then declining.

If Nix drafted a QB last season or the year before then I agree waiting would be key and would have given us the best value BUT since Nix waited so long and the fans want change now the only way to make sure they get who they want is to pull the trigger early like Miami did last season with RT. ImO take who you want @8 and leave the draft knowing you drafted the best prospect you feel will succeed here instead of waiting in hopes of them dropping just to get stuck with a 3 rd rate prospect that might not even make the roster. The new CBA makes it easy to draft QBs early in hopes to find one and if they fail you draft another the following draft. No more waiting and watching Nix screw himself over and over again waiting too long, just do it right away and walk away with the top prospect they covet instead of the Brown slug we stuck with last time he over waited.

Its nothing but the pits with Fitz, its time to give the fans the change they were promised from Ralph when Trent was cut. Draft a top prospect and roll the dice
I actually agree with some of El Loco's response to your post, and I agree with you too. The SF similarities are striking, and I actually do still believe it's possible Fitz could outperform his earlier years - not likely but possible. But it's also clear the Bills shouldn't be sitting around waiting another year.

The problem this year is knowing when to take the plunge on a QB. Nix should have done it sometime in the past two years (I wanted him to trade up three spots and take Tannehill ahead of the Dolphins, in part because I thought he was worth it and in part because it would have been fun to stick it to the Dolphins). I wanted Wilson two rounds later. I wanted SOMEONE the year before. But that's history, and now Nix is stuck with having to make a move. I don't think he'll trade up for Smith, and it may very well be the case other positions offer MUCH better value than a QB at 8. Best choice from my point of view is trade out of 8 down to 12 or 15 or 20, wherever you're very confident that a QB you like is still there. That way you pick up a second pick in the second round, which leaves you in position to get a good QB prospect and still get valuable guys at WR and LB.

Very tough to know how to play it. We thought Nix wanted a QB in the second round in 2011, but there was an unexpected run that left him with no good choices (although in retrospect Kaepernick was a good choice). His problem now, as you say, is that he can't afford to wait long this time.
