Default Bills most overrated and underrated players of all time

    Buffalo Bills

    FREE iPad Download

NFL.com is doing a special on the most overrated and underrated players of all time by NFL team. The Bills are scheduled for July 1st, so it got me thinking who does the BBMB feel are the most overrated and underrated players for this franchise and why (put some thought into it).

    My choices are

Underrated - Daryl Talley - Unsung veteran linebacker during the Super Bowl years that IMO was the glue that kept that defense together.

Overrated - JD Williams - After being the 16th pick in the first round of 1990 he never did live up to expectations. Of the 5 DB's the Bills drafted from 1990 through 1999 he was the most disappointing. Other notable first round DB's taken by the Bills from 1990-1999, 1991 Henry Jones, 1993 Thomas Smith, 1994 Jeff Burris, 1999 Antoine Winfield.

Not to rustle some jimmies but overrated would probably be Phil Hanson, Lee Evans, and half the OL from the Super Bowl run

But knowing the NFL it'll be TO and Bledsoe in their short careers

Overrated-Aaron schobal...I really liked him and he was a good guy but wasn't a game changer and was wayyyyyyy over paid.

Underrated- (not in the eyes of buffalo fans) but Kelly, Thurman, reed, tasker!!!, talley, etc...things may have been different if we won a sb I am always suprised how Thurman, reed, and tasker in particular are never brought up in nfl circles when talking about all time greats. Thurman was one of the best all around rb ever, tasker the best sp player ever, and reed was oe of the best wr of all time.

Overrated: Reuben Brown. All the Pro Bowls were just players being lazy about their voting.

Underrated: Harry Jacobs. MLB on the 60's championship teams. Ran one of the bast D's in football and one of the best LB to ever wear a Bills uni but never got the recognition he was due.

Underrated: Robert James.....best corner back in franchise history.

Overrated: Stevie Johnson by a land slide, only in Buffalo could a mediocre WR who has cost us many a victory and has a me first attitude be revered.

    Underrated current - Chandler/Gilmore
    Underrated all time - Talley
    Overrated current - Brad Smith
Overrated all time - I am sure there are more deserving but considering the contract given in comparison to body of work, gotta go with Fitz.

Underrated was Bobby Chandler. John Holachek is a close 2nd.

Over-rated was Willis Magahee. Ruben Brown was a very good OG, but he wasn't pro bowl caliber all the time. Reputation got him a lot of pro bowl votes.

Underrated - Andre Reed .... Until he gets into the HOF he'll remain underrated

Overrated - Trent Edwards .... Maybe it was just a combination of JP Losman hate and not having a QB since Jim Kelly but in his 1st couple of years he seemed to walk on water to many people on this board.

Flutie and Evans are the best answers I've seen so far.

Two of your "underrated" players are in the HOF, not sure how they can count as "underrated".

If overrated doesn't land on Edwards or Fitz I will be blown away. Underrated would easily have to be Talley. Paup was a bit of a flash in the pan here but had a good two three years with the team.

I agree on both. Especially Flutie. I think Talley is a close second to Kelsay though.

This would be my answer as well. I'm not old enough to comment on the old timers, but I could never understand how Rueben went to so many pro bowls.

Reed was the 2nd best receiver of his era, only because his era coincided with Jerry Rice.
